View Full Version : Potential Leak, Bluffing at pairs on board?

I've fallen into a bad(?) habit of firing a bluff off (especially from EP) if the board flops a pair. While I know this won't work every time, I'm finding it's getting me into more trouble than I would expect. Is there any value to this play, or should I just back down entirely?

Kinda what I figured.
Does anybody have any guidelines. What pairs are best to bluff at, is it better in pot that has or hasn't been raised pre-flop?
Obviously your read on your oponnents is the biggest key...
I'm just finding that if I'm not getting cards- I do way too much to try and make money for myself, and it only gets me in trouble.

It depends on the number of opponants.
If you have 3 or less, then you can bluff at this to hope one of them folds leaving you heads up with the other.
Against more than 3 I would just hope it gets checked around and if a blank falls on the turn you can try to bluff. But know that if 4 or 5 guys are seeing the flop somebody has to have a piece of something and they aren't going to fold becuase they don't care if you have the trips.
