I'm playing in the Party 200K guaranteed tonite, and was wondering if some people who have played in it could give me some advice.

Is it a crapshoot to begin? ie blinds goin up every 15 minutes and lots of all-ins?

Is the quality of player high? do the best and brightest of party's 40000+ players show up for this tourney?

How tight should I come in? Are the first 2 hours more of a struggle for position and stealing small pots, or is it a double-up or die type of atmosphere?

Any other words of wisdom? Much Appreciated.

Thanks all.

Just play really tight, i was playing like 12% for a long time. Play really conservative and try not to put all your chips at risk on any hand unless you have almost the nuts. I played in it 3 weeks ago and it was my first big tourney as well. I finished like 99th getting pretty crappy cards and was thrilled. I would play almost no pots, but when I did, I would almost always win. I asked a similar question in reference to what hands I should play in the beginning. The post may still be there so if you can find it. It has the exact advice I followed which was excellent. Just make sure you don't bust me if I play you and good luck.

Well I'm out. Flop a junk 2 pair from the BB and get beaten by someone who called J6 UTG and rivered 2 pair.

...and i wasn't even playing. That's right. I wasn't playing. My internet server crashed for 12 hours last night, and it just so happened that it first went down 30 minutes into the tourney. I was doin fairly well too. About 1200 in chips when i lost control of it.

Funny thing is, I finished in 330th place, outlasting 70% of the competition. I'm sure I'll finish in the money barring no disasters next time.

Later guys.

Finished 50th....Not quite in the big money but in enough money to make it worth it.

Maybe i did go out on a limb there, but to be perfectly honest, i do believe that i am one of the top 150 NO-limit tourney players in any given Party Tournament.

I played in 4 satellites this week, because i don't really want to put up $215 for a tourney, and I won spots TWICE. Ironically, both were for the same tourney. I don't expect this to last, but I hope to win atleast one spot/week from this point. Also, this is the first time i've played any NL-tourneys at Party, so it's not like i've been pissing my money away and got lucky this week. I really do believe that i will place every time I play.

Prepare yourself for reality to intervene in those plans.

Dont expect the money evry time. I am averageing 70% in the money on the bigger buy-ins.. and I consider myself to be on a good run.

I am not sure what normal is but I would assume 50% or so.

I don't think he means he thinks he will actually cash every time, just that his attitude going into every tournament is "I will make the money", which seems like a good, confident mindset, as long as you don't let the inevitable bad streaks mess with your head...

Actually if you read what he said it sure seems like he meant that he believes he will cash every time. Also, that the only reason he didn't cash this week was connection problems. Oh course, this won't happen...
