I see a lot abbrev. hehe in posts--I am familiar with some and figured others out. Could someone make a list that notes these. Or just post a few that come to mind. I'd appreciate it.

Thank You

There is an abbreviations section in the directory (see the menu on the left). This should give you most of the main ones.

Meh. Don't know that one, but I don't think it's an acronym.

Meh is a sound of complete indifference. Like a verbal shrug, if you will.

Let me take this opportunity to implore everyone to stop using the acronym IMO (in my opinion), or the even worse IMHO (in my humble opinion).

Anything one writes on a forum is one's opinion, no? It's painfully redundant, IMO.

Actually I completely disagree.

A lot of what one says, even in a poker forum, can be interpreted as being common wisdom, and therefore not really up for debate.
So when one wants to say that they believe a certain way is best, but they think many disagree, imo is a very suitable term.
Thus,

You should almost always open raise with KK. (Is fine, most people will agree)
You should almost always limp reraise with KK (IMO). (Would look stupid and bad advice if you are trying to pass it off as common wisdom because most don't believe it. Using IMO seperates it as being advice that you believe that many don't.)

There's only 2 acronyms that I used consistently that people get confused about.

SOP : Standard Operating Procedure
TIS : The Industry Standard

Now that I've made this post, I'll never explain them again. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
