Poker Stars No limit .10/.25
hero, seat 4 (one seat before CO)
villain, big blind
Hero dealt Ts Ad
pre-flop, three players fold to hero, one who checked after posting blinds.
Hero raises to $1
only villain calls
Flop : Ks Td Kh
villain checks
hero checks
Turn ; [Ks Td Kh] 4s
villain raises $3
hero calls $3
River ; [Ks Td Kh 4s] Qs
villain checks
hero bets $2.25
villain raises to $8.55 all in
hero calls
villain shows 8s 2s, winning pot with a flush. Hero has two pair, tens and kings, ace kicker

Now, I dont know if this was bad play or not. Villain shouldnt have called pre-flop raise of 3x big blind with 8,2 on suit. Is this just a case of getting a bad beat from a maniac, or could I have done more to prevent it?

You didn't bet the flop and then you called a nearly pot-sized bet on the river. Blame yourself for every dollar you lost.

Suppose your right.
Its just I didnt put him on a king, and was taking the play from there I guess. Since it was only me and him I was trying to extract as much $ from him, without scaring him off, but obviously that completely backfired!!!

No, it a case of being outplayed. What hand did you think your opponent had that you could beat when you called?

In no limit, because of implied odds, your opponent can call relatively small bets preflop, with very weak hands, if you are going to pay off like an ATM when he makes his hand on the river.
