Heading to Vegas -- Need non-poker suggestions (beer, women, music)

So, finally, after multiple failed attempts, my friends and I have hotel reservations, time off and plane tickets. For 7/8 of us, that probably means we will actually be in Las Vegas for April 1-4. The eighth guy has an apparent tendancy to miss flights.

I can find the right low limit games for these guys by searching the archives, but I'm looking for some advice on the rest of the trip.

I've been to Vegas a couple of times, and spent most of my time playing poker so I don't know too much about bars/clubs, etc... Basically you're talking about eight guys who like to drink and hit on women. But everything I've seen in Vegas has thus far been huge clubs, and for several that's not really our scene. Doesn't have to be a dive bar, but something slightly calmer than whatever new club and whichever hot casino. Nobody's rich, but none of us are hitting town broke (though we may leave that way).

Anyways, all suggestions are appreciated. Strip clubs, restaurants, bars, clubs, all of it. We're there for April 1-4, and I'm sure there's more going on at night than the strip.

if your going with a bunch of guys the only suggestion i can give you is go to lasvegas.com and check out the VIP package i did it for a bachelor party in Nov it was so worth it. We went to RA at the luxor and Ghost bar Palms and light(bellagio). Also check out coyote ugly but get there before 8pm casue no cover very nice looking bartenders and very flirtatious. Easiest hook up is Palms thats where the youngins hang out and get hammered. Got to love MTV....
Good show to check out is Blue Man group but expensivve tickets. What we did was everyone through in $50 and we went to the roulette table put it on red and hit so we went and got tickets. We tried it again the next night for extra cash for another show and lost so maybe not a good idea....

i'm also not into clubs, so when i'm not playing poker, i like hanging out at the sahara. cheaper games then the strip, and there seems to be a lot of young attractive folk the last couple times i was tehre, but more down to earth then the hardrock/club scene. they're hanging at teh sahara for god sakes. so play some cheap bj or craps, drink free booze, and chat it up with folk.

Vegas is all about the clubs. If you're looking just to talk to women, V-bar ain't too bad for that in the Venetian. Much smaller. If you're looking to "hook up," learn how to do it in a club. If you can't hook up in a club in Vegas, you won't have much luck ... anywhere else in the world, for that matter.

FWIW, I find it pretty easy to talk to women at the tables. Find a group playing craps or blackjack and having a good time and it's usually pretty easy to get a conversation going. As for clubs, I find the more mellow places easier to actually talk to someone. Like Drai's. Drai's rules.

Take your sorry ass game home Ulysses. You couldn't pick a girl up w/ a forklift. But.....I think you're right on this one. The major clubs are sausage fests unless you time things right. Everyone always says Vegas is the easiest place in the world to hook-up, but they are way wrong.

I think working the game scene is not a bad idea. I don't know about this Drai's though, never heard of it. Ideally, you get a bunch of girls to go with you to the club. Then, even a guy-like Vehn could pull something down.

Rumor has it that if you go to a club like Rain or Rum Jungle and get a table (where you must buy a bottle 200+), the bouncers do all the work for you and bring girls to your table. I'm gonna give that a shot next time I'm in town which will be WSOP.

Actually, I think single zero roulette is a better bet than blackjack when doing this sort of thing. Since we aren't doubling or splitting, the HA goes up. The win/loss/tie percentages for a single hand of blackjack are 43.31/47.89/8.80, so the HA is about 3.55% (43.31*20/21 + 43.31*1.5*1/21 - 47.89). For single zero roulette, the HA is 1/37, or 2.70%.

Never get a table. Why pay $200 for a bottle of Grey Goose? If you're a decent looking guy in Vegas, it is a CINCH to hook up. Go up to a girl. Ask her to dance. Don't say, "Your daddy musta been a thief cuz he stole the stars and put them in your eyez!" Just ask to dance. Start dancing. Talk. If you click, you end up hooking up. If not, find someone else.

Drai's is the best after-hours spot in Vegas. If you still haven't had any luck, girls and guys will both go there looking for another chance.

Rain by far has the best looking women. Ra's crowd is late twenties, early thirties with some pervy people there. Buying a table in order to hook up is the same as going to the Baccarat bar at the Bellagio and just paying for it from there. Leave the tables to the wannabes.

Ghostbar is cool. But make sure you are either with a few hot chicks or have a host get you on the list. Otherwise, the wait is not even close to worth it. I was on the wannabe list (Palms casino host list, which comes after "members", high-rollers, and celebs) and had to wait about 30 minutes on a Saturday night around midnight. The people who just got in line had to wait about 2 hours. The hot chicks who showed up without guys got put in the same line as us. That's definitely the best skill to have, being a hot chick.

Ha, I know getting a table is sort've selling out and shoould be left to the choads and melvins with absolutely no legitimate chance whatsoever. I still think that Vegas isn't that much better for hooking up than Chicago, LA, or NYC, if you know where to go in those cities either.

I want to get a list of people going to Vegas for the WSOP. I think I'm gonna rent a condo for the 2 weeks to a month. If anyone needs a place to stay drop me a PM.

hey JV actually getting a tablecan be well worth the entertainment. I was at LIGHT in feb. was sitting at a table next to Ben Affleck and there was like 50 girls trying to get over to him of course The left overs sat at our table while waiting there turn but very very nice prospects (i was with a chick but my friend grab one of them.) Did you use the package from lasvegas.com? If so, was it actually no waiting, straight in, or did you just get put into the VIP line?

i chose the limo package and what i did was had the limo pick us up at the airport and bring us to our hotel. We checked into the NYNY and i gave the limo driver a 50 spot to wait a 1/2 hour for us to check in and change. He then took us to Light and there was a big line to get in but we went right through and our host met us at the entrance and seated us. She was pretty hot and one of my friends talked her into having a few drinks with us but thats another story for another time.
If any 2+2 er's will be in town 4/16-4/20 and want to get together and do this package i will set it up or anyone in town that time wants to just go get some drinks at Coyote ugly first rounds on me Soco shots will be pouring.....
as you can tell i stay at the NYNY alot just great deals for me. They have the best paigow poker comps system in LV.
