I have played 100 hrs of .50/1 at Paradise Poker and
have an average win rate of 1.72/hr. I would eventually
like to move up to a higher limit. I'm looking for some
opinions on how many hours a beginning player should stay at .50/1 and what would be an reasonable expected win-rate for a good player who is ready to move up to a higher limit.

this is a post for micro limits. but since youre here, the games at paradise poker, in my opinion anyway, don't change much at all until you go above 2/4. so if youre win rate is 1.72/hour now, I think youre taking a paycut.

There definitely is a difference between Paradise 0.5/1 and 1/2. Flop % usually fall from 45-50% at 0.5/1 to 25-35% at 1-2.

100 hours isn't very much. You are making 1.7bb/hour. The authors suggest start looking at the higher games if you are winning more than 1bb/hour. I'd say start taking shots at these games. You'll be a 50c player that sometimes plays $1, and soon you'll notice that you are a $1 player that sometimes plays 50c.

None of these equations yaddy yaddy apply to micro limits since you can always and easily restake yourself.

Isn't the 1 BB/hr based on casino play ? Since there are
many more hands per hour online I was thinking that a
good player could reasonably expect to win maybe 3BB/hr online.
