Bruiser,

I was looking forward to digging through your hand histories. I was expecting lots of preflop raising with 25o and trying to fight your way out of it with money.

Unfortunately for me, you are a very solid player. Tight and aggressive. Your hand selection seemed about right, but there were a few inconsistencies. For example there was one hand where you open limped with QJo and another almost identical situation where you folded QJs.

I also noticed that you limp a lot with AK type hands. Which I too have begun limping with these hands, but I see another hand where you limp behind several limpers. I always raise here (although this may be poor).

I am curious why you checked and called on this hand? I think it is fine if you know this player to be a bluffer or overaggressive with hands like AT, A9. If I didn't know the player, or thought him solid I would want to raise the flop to find out where I'm at. You're also allowing a 3rd player to overcall here. I don't think I like it.

I think on this hand you allowed your opponents to pin down your hand values quite easily. Your small flop bet indicates, hey I've got something, but I'm not too proud. Then on the turn you tell them you're scared of the Ace. They obviously played terribly. You may want to look at your play and see if you are perhaps telegraphing your hand strength by the size of your bets. Look at the following hand for another example of this.

Sorry that I don't have more comments. Many of the hands you sent me were heads up or three-handed, and I feel that my short game is a bit bizarre and am not qualified to comment on yours. You played strong and your results look good, but I think you need to watch out for more observant opponents as you move up in stakes.

I think what has been remarkable from this experiment is that every player who's hands I've examined has been tighter than I expected, and I've of course been told the same. Yes, Bruiser, you too, are a rock. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good point on the first hand. The second hand I'm not too concerned about because I don't have any respect for those players.

As regards how tight I play, it depends on my mood. When I'm playing 4 tables at once sometimes I'll go into rock mode and fold AT, QK in EP and fold AQ to raises. If I'm just playing 1 or 2 tables then I might still be playing tight, or I might be playing very loose limping with any cards close to connecting like 98, 79, 58 etc. Also, I only play really loose at $1/$2 not $2/$4.

Unfortunately, I think I was playing better poker a couple months ago than I am now. Before I was either loose/agressive or tight/aggresive, now I'm becomming more and more passive and weak and when I play loose like that, I lose money quickly.
