Two issues.

1) have Team Canada finalised their roster yet, if so can I have a copy of it so I can add their fixtures for this week.

2) I still have some results missing from week 1. What is happening with these matches?

Good game.

38 total hands dealt, I won 25% of the flops I saw, and won 1 of 9 showdowns, including 5 times I got rivered and twice I got turned.

Yet, like each and every one of them you had either 11 or 14 outs, and there was no way you were going anywhere. Tough match for me to take but you definitely played stellar.

In a match that lasted about as long as my last barrel at Black's, the surfdoc took down the banana. Seriously though, this match was a perfect example of how much luck comes into play. The deck flopped me huge and all I did was hit the bet and raise button early and often. Good match!

This was was an epic 1:45 match. I went from T30 and hitting runner-runner to having a commanding lead and all the way back down. Good game.

Great match - the deck was slapping me early and I thought I had him. But he came off the carpet 3 times. The first 2 times he rivered me, the 2nd one was a split pot with a str8 where I had QQ to start and he rivered the split.

Then he started getting some cards and it was pretty much even with a lot of back and forth. I became very shortstacked for a while after the blinds went up but managed to work my way back up.

Late in the match I had AA and sucked him in for a big pot, not sure what he had, but that hand was critical and left him shortstacked again.

An epic struggle that I finally managed to pull out.

What can I say - 54 hands is all it took.

I don't think I could have got a flop to hit me if I'd insulted its mother. Book's sixth sense to a pocket pair was also very effective, he folded pre-flop to at least 3 of them.

I could say more but I'll let the following statistics do it all for me:

In a 15 minute smackdown, Bunky goes down in flames for the second week in a row.

Jason nailed his draws against my pairs and played them very well. It wasn't even close. I don't think he even had to break a sweat. I made quite a few second money hands that were pay offs.

But, Jason played some great HU limit holdem, my hats off.

Now, I only hope my teammates can bail my sorry @$$ out again this week.

Even coin flips aren't 50/50 , and you can get a slight edge, but only against very weak players can you dominate the game.

45 very well played minutes.

Jake started off w/ a little run, then I caught some cards and started running over him with lots of bluffs. Had him down to 200, then he started fighting back a little and caught on to my thievery.

He scrapped his way back to even, caught two lucky rivers (I caught more than that earlier) to give him the lead, then played very aggressively and never gave me a chance to capitalize when I did make hands. Very well-played match.

No worries for the team of course, since No Homer's is so completely dominant.

Good game... only 30 mins and Inthacup was sailing alla way. I had a very very hard time switching gears off the Ulysses game minutes earlier. That was blow for blow, bluff for bluff, blood all over the place. Inthacup on the other hands just kept slipping punches and when he did engage - boy did he have the goods.

Got off to a late start with some access problems. (Thanks for the patience, U). Funny - I never thought you were playing too fast... from my perspective I was throwing away a lot of chips in the early part just trying to ensure that wasn't happening. It felt like I was running into some blockbuster hands , that had me on my knees. Then I made a couple of rivers to get back in. Then it just felt like head 2 head, fist 2 fist grinding... both of us looking for weaknesses to exploit. And right until it was over - I was very very aware that Ulysses could come back and clean my clock.

Really enjoyed it. Good game. (er... see game against Cup right after... boy did I have a hard time adjusting to a different style).

Furthermore, I think she is on the Party Boat now, so she is not in sight. Pending the discovery of new info (which is definitely not out of the realm of possibility), I'm going to give the match to Jay!. I don't want to start a bad precedent by handing out draws.

WEASEL45 - bicyclekick: Given Bicyclekick's enthusaism about HULA, I doubt this match was not played. Simon couldn't find info about it. I'll send PMs on top of this post to get to the bottom of this.

Mike and I have been talking to Mat about maybe setting up a new forum. Looks like that might not happen. However, I see a shiny new forum that says "World Poker Tour, etc." Etcetera you say? We've got two options, and I'd like to hear what you guys have to say.

- Move HULA offsite to John's forum or some other forum.
- Move HULA to the WPT forum.

Lemme get my bearings back and we will figure out the kinks, which look to be much more minor than the Week 1 kinks. If anyone sees something I need to be addressing in these updates, let me know.

That doesn't make them right. It's the general holdem poker forum, this is a tourney open to the general holdem posting populace. You might argue that it could be moved to the HU/SH poker forum, but since it's Holdem and it's intended audience lives in the holdem area, it belongs here imo.

Unless Matt specifically asks for it to be moved, and I can't fathom why he would, it should remain here.

If people done like the thread occupying the whole page of their first screen, I kindly point out the Collapsed link to the upper right. Use this at your leisure.

Selfishly speaking, there are some people in the group of hate-mailers that I really don't want in my enemies column. I still utilize 2+2 primarily for poker advice as opposed to using it as a socializing tool for myself and my HULA buddies, and I don't want to lose access to these great poker minds over a personal issue because they see me as the ring leader of this HULA thang. Whether they are right or wrong, I don't think it's that big of a deal to move these (rather) mundane threads out of a high traffic area where many highly-respected posters occasionally speak up over the crowd of Rounders questions and declarations of leaving 2+2.

I guess I just don't see the harm in moving it, even if it does belong in this forum. Do you think it will hurt HULA in any way?

I think that moving it to another place lowers the profile of the league and reduces the chance of new blood.

The HULA threads are no more obtrusive than other large threads. I really think this is just the case of a lot of posters don't know that you can collapse the forums. At least, I hope so. If it's people giving you angst because they just don't like a large thread one their view even if it is collapsed, then those people have issues.

People who are in the "but I shouldn't HAVE to collapse my view" crowd also have similar issues.

People, it's a public forum put together by the 2+2 crowd to generate interest in their books and promote poker in general. Yes, it isn't the nice private corner it used to be two years ago. Change is gud.

Whilst I agree with your views Jim, it certainly isn't fair that Doug is copping the flak he is at present.

The people who are slating him may have issues, but there will always be this type of attitude around - ignoring it wont make it any easier for Doug.

Therefore, if the only way to stop the flak is moving the thread to another forum, I don't see as there is any other option. Which forum it moves to is another issue entirely...

You know and I know they won't change...we've all dealt with these people before, and you have been on the other side of this argument in some setting before as well. That doesn't make them wrong.

The proof is in the pudding....ever since the evil HULA empire arose from the ashes, has there been any discussion of note other than HULA in the General Forum? On top of everything else, we have to keep Mason and Co. in mind too...they are trying to put a quality product out here as well. The bottom line is that I am a poker player first and a HULA commish second, and I will do everything in my power to make sure "Poker Player Doug" is harmed in no way by "HULA Doug."

The new blood thing....Anyone who was not with HULA from the start is not going to be enticed to play by reading 2+2 HULA threads (most of the recruiting stuff is being directed right to Simon's beautiful little site right now). I'll post marketing materials on important forums during recruiting time for HULA II and beyond if demand is down, but from the response we've received, I doubt we will need to work to find new players, especially since I for one am not going to let HULA get much bigger/more official than it already is without some more motivation for us to do so.

We'll see how it plays out....I gotta get to class.

HULA discussion should either be moved to the HU/SH forum (so what if HUSH is there already - most of the regulars there are playing HULA as well) or to its own website. Either way is fine, but I'd probably lean towards HU/SH.

61 games. Match was very close to start with no one getting a huge lead. A lot of back and forth. Then I completed with a J4o. He raised preflop and I called. The flop came 84K. He bet I raised he called. Turn was a J. check, bet, call. River was an A. check, bet, raise, raise, call (he paired his A). That put me in the lead with about 2/3 off the chips. Next big hand was when I got KK in the hole and pulled down a nice size pot with it. That left Crazy Canuck very short stacked.

On the final hand I had 75 and he had 95. The flop went 86A, the turn was a K and then I rivered the str8 with a 4.

A good match where I got some good cards in key situations (which always helps).

And the utter domination of No Homers Club continues in it's march towards victory! /images/graemlins/grin.gif This week we even sent our best player out as the sacrificial lamb, so that the other teams can feel that at least they have some hope (they don't) /images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you did not notice, Darkknight was not at the top of the FA list. I've decided it was infeasible to make the opening available to one sub at a time if we are going to try to get each schedule of matches complete inside of a week. The rule is still in effect that the entire list of FAs must be cycled through before a player can play twice...If problems of availability arise from this, I'll handle it later.

In defense of my man crazy canuck. So far every single team Canada member has had the same problem. We register and email support with the "Hxxx" reference, asking to be added to the tourny tables. We get a reply saying our request has been taken care of. Then in every case, we are unable to sit and have to send a second request email.

I did receive a PM from crazy canuck asking who mike or john were so he could get a hold of them to fix the problem, because he had 2 matches scheduled for that day.

The problem you're describing relates to the match we'd scheduled for yesterday. I was aware of these problems as Crazy Canuck was PM'ing me at the time (for some reason he could sit for one match but not the one against me). As far as I'm aware he managed to complete his first game but we couldn't get started in our match.

Because of the problems yesterday we rescheduled for this evening but on this occasion he wasn't there and, as yet, hasn't picked up the PM's I sent him. I'm going to Prague tomorrow so am now unable to reschedule again - hence my note to Havana.

I get the feeling he's been kept away from his PC for some reason as, based on his frequent PM's yesterday, I don't believe that he would not have let me know if he could have sent me a message. I hope the reason for this is not serious and I'm sure it will become clear soon enough. However, I've now got no available time this week to reschedule the match again.

Well, if the team they meet the last week allready are qualified, and Team Canada need that last weeks win to get into playoff, we would get into a situation where losing would be +EV for that other team.
(I know it is not about much money this time, but I do not like options like that.)

How about this, if they get into the playoff we move up all other teams beaten by Team Canada 1 spot in payoffs.

Canada Wins, 2nd team gets first, team 3 and 4 decides who will 2nd by best playoff game, if that is a tie, then it gets decided by regular season result between those 2 teams.
5th team in regular season gets their 25$

Canada comes 2nd same thing, except 1st get 1st of course.

Canada comes 3rd or 4th, 5th team in reg season get their 25$.

I have teammembers PMing me stating that they have PM'ed their opponent multiple times and either no reply or opponents have been unable to select a gametime.


Now what if the player answering the Pm does so 1 hour before the end of the playweek, we cant have players staying awake just in case this happends, so I suggest a Deadline of wednesday night for the match to be scheduled.

So I suggest that the player who first PM's his opponent about a gametime do so with a readrecieptrequest, in the case the opponent do not answer before the end of Wednesday EST it will be a win for the initiator.(Captains can also speak for their players if neccesary, as someone can be out of town for a few days in the beginning of the week)


Ok, Now what if the 2 players can't agree on a time to play?
From wednesday midnight it is 96 hours to end of week, and usually challenge will be issued way before that so should be plenty of time, but if it is completely impossible Post it in the weekly thread with the open times to play for both players and the player with the fewest open hours until end of the week have to find a replacement, if he has not done so or posted his open hours by midnight Thurday, he will forfit the match.

G'day Jim,
As I said in my previous post, I must be going insane! I had EST US time as 10.5 hrs behind, however I just checked the World clock web page and found that Adelaide time is currently 8:55 AM Monday and New York is 5:25 PM Sunday. That makes Adelaide 15.5 hrs ahead. I honestly have no idea how I screwed this up so much!! Looking at our PM's I can honestly say that the mix up firmly lays in my court so I apologize for the screw up.
I dont know the consequences of this, but if you want to play some other time I'll give you a complete synopsis of when I'm available, MY TIME, and maybe you will be able to subtract two numbers correctly!
I can play any weekday after 9 AM and before 1PM, I'm a single parent and must pick my kids up from school at 3 PM so I say 1 to give plenty of time.
My kids go to bed at 8:30 PM so I can play ANY time after that until 6 AM.
(by my somewhat dodgy calculations, that makes it 5:30 PM till 9:30 PM the previous day and after 5 AM your time?)
On the weekends I can only play after 8:30 PM.

I find it strange that I have a degree (with Honours) in Mathematics and Computer science and yet I cant calculate the difference in 2 times correctly! Oh well, my 6 year old is currently learning the basics of Arithmetic at school, maybe I'll sit in on the class for a while!

Jwise as others have mentioned was changed to the artist. I have got PM's from him and he is having software problems. Last i heard he was trying to work it out with support.

Bot not! If I was a bot, I would have noticed the blinds going up! I failed to adjust my style to the increased blinds, and you made hay by adjusting to my style or lack-therof.

It is a new style I'm experimenting with. I'm not entirely comfortable with it and yes it is based on a "bot". I know I said that during the match. A reverse tell, you think.

I really enjoyed the game and it left me out of gas for Bozeman. I used to play the paradise 1 one 1 games and it reminded me of a match I had with e-dropper (he couldn't rape me, so he didn't want to bother with me) and another with dellguy (he creamed me).

Anways, I learned a ton from our match. Thanks!

If I can, on my own, get a sub up and ready to play and able to connect to TPC before midnight tonight, are they allowed to play the match for gacm?

I obviously know where you are coming from (considering HUSH has encountered many similar scheduling difficulties, in its infancy) when you'll probably say no to this idea, but if there's a way for my team to get one extra chance to notch a fifth win (we are at 4 right now), I will do what need be to try to get it.

The blinds only increased once in our match.

Good game though. I had trouble with you because I couldn't figure out your strategy, I eventually decided that you were just auto-hitting the raise button regardless of your hand. Then I decided you were going to go to the river no matter what you held. Then I think I finally figured you out, you were going to bet/raise with any pair or any draw, and then take it to the river even if you spiked bottom pair only on the end.

Its rare that I play against an opponent more aggressive than me, and I was already on tilt so it was quite frustrating.

I'm still figuring out this new strategy. It is extremely frustrating to play against. Basically there are very few plays which are effective against it.

You are close. The main part of the strategy is to find a weakness in your opponent and exploit it. Your original weakness was that you viewed me as an average 1 on 1 player with bets and raises that meant something to me. They were somewhat based on my cards. However, there was a greater weight to my bets and raises based on what you had in your hand.

There's another reason for me going to the river. But I won't get into that as I'm still evaluating how effective that part was.

BTW, if you're ever interested in another match I'd be happy to play and discuss my cards/thoughts with you as we play. Just PM me.
