After Jim placed in the WSOP as he was getting his money the big guard guy asks him "how much you wanna tip the dealers"? is this normal in the big tourneys? if so is there a certain percentage that is correct? you just won over 100k so what is the right tip? Just curious. Until that book i had no idea there even was a tip and Jim was surprised by it too.

All the live tournaments I played involved tipping the dealer, the usual amount is somewhere between 3-5%. It could be less for huge tournaments.

Hi DrS:

It should be zero since they take 2.5 percent out of the entry fees for tips.

Best wishes,
Mason

TY Mason, that's new information for me. Smart move for organisers.

Actually, I believe this is new due to Harrah's buyin the tournament. Isn't something like 400 of the 10K buyin taken out for tips, fees and something else? I thought this was new and due to harrah's.

No, it was a becky binion thing. They started taking huge chunks of the prize pool. This got a lot of discussion here and on rgp at the time. Anybody crazy enough to tip after the 2.5% take out, was well, crazy. If I had played and gotten lucky enough to win big, there would be no additional tip. I would have taken care of the security guard getting me to the car or a bank tho. And of course I woulda had to pay for coronas for Murphy and Clarkmeister, so there goes another 3 grand or so. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

One would like to think that they wouldn't tip after winning like $3.3 million at this year's WSOP, however the public backlash would really suck and lots would view you as a cheapskate. But if you don't care about that, more power to ya.

Yeah, I think I posted at the time that I might get to feeling bad and cave in and tip. But no way would I tip much after getting hit with the 2.5% charge. Like maybe 1K per million extra for dealers, 1K for the security guard, and 3K for beers.

Nah, on second thought, I'd just have to take the heat, take care of the sec. guard, and buy beers. People will bad mouth your play and ability on the internet for years anyway, what's some extra badmouthing? /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Just to add to this, they kinda didn't say that they were gonna do it, they just did it. They take the money out of the prize pool, and they kinda sorta don't mention that. Given that Becky is just about the worst human being ever to grace this planet, I'd be surprised if the dealers actually saw any of this money.

A former prominent RGPer got banned from the casino for speaking ill of the way it's set up in an interview some years back. An RGPer you'll see on the WPT in a bit.

Is becky in charge of binions? I've heard bad things about here, just in general though, what has she actually done that's so bad?
