I was thinking about this today:

/images/graemlins/spade.gif 30,000 people online average

/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 10,000 play real money (estimate, could be way off)

/images/graemlins/heart.gif 1,300 real money tables (based on an estimated 7.5 persons a table). Each brings in average 30 cent rake per hand (again, estimate, could be way off)

/images/graemlins/club.gif 25 hands per hour on average (again, estimate, could be way off)

/images/graemlins/spade.gif $7.50 per hour for each table on average. (thats doing 25 * .30)

/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 1,300 tables * 7.5 = 9750

/images/graemlins/heart.gif * 24 hours a day - minus 1 hour for downtime (/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

/images/graemlins/club.gif 9750*23 = 224250$ per day!

WOW - I must be off somewhere! THATS CRAZY!

50 hands per hour, and many real money players play more than one table at a time. With SnG fees and multi tourney fees, it's hard to come up with a reasonable number.

Your estimate must be on the low side! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

With out doing the math, I'd say they make your 200 large just on tournies and Sng's a day.

I consistently average 60 to 65 hands per hour.

1,300 real money tables (based on an estimated 7.5 persons a table).

No need to guess, go to pokerpulse.com and get the numbers. Saturday at 9:15 pm PST, 7687 players at 986 tables and 13999 tournament players. 24-hour peaks say 8723 players at 1111 tables and 14852 tournament players.

I don't have any rake numbers for .5/1 and 1/2. 2/4 and 3/6 average over $1 and 5/10, 10/20 and 15/30 all average over $2. I'm not sure about the ratios of each table to the total (and really don't feel like counting 900+ tables). I would guess this is probably a little bit low.

This is way off. 60 would be more accurate.

Your total is probably less than half of what they gross.

If someone were willing to spend more time on it, they could come up with a more accurate estimate and I suspect it would be a lot higher.

According to pokerpulse, total ring game pots in the last 24 hours were $47.2 million. It also quotes EMREH as 749,766 but I've no idea how to use that stat. Plus add on tournament fees.

You are low. When you amortize capital costs like servers and workstations, calculate income against fixed costs like personnel and lines, it could be the best business model since the discovery of tobacco. A good guess would be close to double that gross.

and they still can't afford to get their act together on the support and software side of things...go figure
