Hi everyone, I don't play many tournaments, but this situation was interesting...

It's early in a $10 NLHE SNG, we have one short stack, and basically everyone else is about the same. Blinds are 15/30.

I'm in MP with http://www.pokerodyssey.com/img/cards/6h.jpg http://www.pokerodyssey.com/img/cards/6d.jpg.

Two EP limpers, I limp along, MP limper, CO (our short stack) goes all-in for 90. BB calls, EP folds, everyone else calls.

FLOP: http://www.pokerodyssey.com/img/cards/6s.jpg http://www.pokerodyssey.com/img/cards/4s.jpg http://www.pokerodyssey.com/img/cards/6c.jpg

BB bets out for the minimium, EP calls, I smooth call (trying to keep everyone in), MP calls.

TURN: http://www.pokerodyssey.com/img/cards/5h.jpg

BB bets again, EP calls, I call (pop it here?), player behind me folds.

RIVER: http://www.pokerodyssey.com/img/cards/3s.jpg

Checked to me, there is 495 in main pot, 210 in the side pot, the flush and straight both got there...how much do you bet here to encourage someone to pay you off?

I ended up betting 200, which was apparently too much (or not enough, lol), I lost the field. /images/graemlins/frown.gif CO had QQ, poor guy.

Thanks,
Jason

I guess the previous bets were 30. If so i would bet 60 (2x previous round action) and hope someone made a str8 or a flush. I guess noone did.

I think you can probably get away with popping in for 100 on the flop/turn. Draws are going to call you anyway and since this is 10+1 so are overcards.

I don't like to play too slow and pop at the end because the only way you'll get paid off is if someone makes a good second best hand, and that doesn't happen often.

Then again, I generally am either betting or folding when I'm involved in a pot anyway, so it helps to camoflague my big hands.

I think your best chance to get paid big is a medium to large raise on the flop. If this gets called, you can probably get a crying call of 1/2 pot on the turn. Still, given how it played out, it looks like no one made a flush, so you may have picked up 60 more than this.

As you played it, I would have put in a raise on the turn, and if I didn't, 100 or an overbet on the river.

In this situation, you are somewhat less likely to be paid off because they can fold and still see your hand with the side pot,
