I'm going to be in SD for a week or so visiting a friend and I was wondering where the best places to play low/mid limit poker would be (prolly in the 10-20 range).

Thanks much,

Not sure if this thread belongs in this forum, but at any rate:

Your only two realistic choices for 8/16 should be Oceans Eleven in Oceanside and Viejas Casino in Alpine. If you want higher limits then O-11 is the only choice, as Viejas' most common game is 8-16 (and 4-8) but not above that. Assuming you come from central part of San Diego, then Ocean's Eleven is 5 North, get off Mission, not hard to find as it is directly next to the freeway. Viejas is 8 east, get off Tavern, follow the crowd (making a left as you get off the interstate and then right on the first turn) go over a hill and Viejas is about 2 minutes off the freeway.

Oceans Eleven 8-16 and above plays like normal southern califonia style (as opposed to Las Vegas 8-16 plays more like Southern California 3-6/4-6) and people are fairly aggressive. I don't play at Viejas often enough to be able to comment.

Taking the limit down one notch to 3-6/4-8 and you'd probably have good times munching on the influx of inexperienced players at Barona Casino and Sycuan Casino.

I feel that the most happening no limit games in San Diego are at Sycuan (usually 2-3 tables of 1-2 NL (20/50 Buy in) and 1 table of 2-4 NL (200 max buy in, never bothered to see what min was) usually always 9 handed). That's just if you want to change up the pace and play some NL.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the post Andy. Those NL games actually sound like they are right up my alley. Thanks again.

I really like Oceans Eleven, right off the 5.
