Ok, I just wanted to post this hand to see what you guys thought of it. This happened at a charity event (not online).
Approximately 25 of 110 players left. Top 20 pay. Me and the other guy that are in this hand are both smaller stacks, but large enough to both make the money. (We both have about 1200 in chips. He has me barely covered.)
NL 50/100 Blinds, 50 antes, 6 players at the table.
UTG folds
EP limps
everyone folds back to me in the BB.
I have A8o. I raise 300.
EP calls.
Flop KQJ rainbow. Uh oh. This steal is not looking good. I don't know what I was thinking, but I decided to continue the steal attempt. I push all-in for a raise of about 900. EP calls. Uh oh. Turn them up.
I show A8o.
EP shows 98o. (What???)
Turn and river are rags. I win the pot, leaving him with about 100 in chips and he goes out the next hand. I end up in 9th.
What was he thinking? I can understand him raising as a bluff, but a bluff call? with 3 overcards? and only the low side of an inside str8 draw?
