The Internet Gambling Prohibition bill (identified by CRS)
Bill # S.627 Original Sponsor:Jon Kyl (R-AZ) is going to put
an end to online gambling. This includes online poker. This
Bill is likely to pass Congress this year according to Sen.
Jon Kyl, the senator who introduced the legislation. You can
read more about this issue from the "Gambling News" section
of our website.

The Bill prohibits any person engaged in the business of
betting or wagering from knowingly accepting in connection
with another person's participation in Internet gambling:
(1) credit; (2) electronic fund transfers or funds
transmitted through money transmitting businesses; (3) any
instrument drawn by or on behalf of another and payable
through any financial institution; or (4) the proceeds of
any other form of financial transaction involving a
financial institution as payer or financial intermediary on
behalf of another person.

The exact
language of H.R. 3125 states: "it shall be unlawful for a person engaged in
a gambling business knowingly to use the Internet or any other interactive
computer service -- (a) to place, receive, or otherwise make a bet or
wager; or (b) to send, receive, or invite information assisting in the
placing of a bet or wager." Section (b)(1).
