View Full Version : 50 BB in 1 hour!?

I was playing at Intercasino (2/4) last week, and watched a player go from all-in (Beat my Kxs with an Axs on a 3 flush board) to 50 BB up in 1 hour.

He didn't seem to be playing out of line (most of his hands were at least reasonable and didn't obviously overplay anything), so I was more amazed of his rush than suspicious of anything. I didn't play much longer because I was tired of watching his cards hit.

I've won that much (and more) during a single session (several hours) but I don't think I've ever seen anyone win that much that quickly in a limit game.

Is this unusual or have I just seen something that wasn't previously in my definition of "everything"?

recently while playing 1-2 limit on party i won a 50 BB POT. clearly that is different than the situation you describe but it does show the how volatile poker can be.
so with the amount of hands you see in an hour it is very easy to win to win massive amounts of money with a few hands. at 2-4 party its common to see average pots of 25-30 so if someone wins 3 or 4 average pots in an hour they can skyrocket.

I was up 48 BB at 5/10 party after one hour. Of course this was shorthanded and a blind monkey could have been up 48BB. Actually a blind monkey probably would have been up 50.

A 50 BB pot is pretty big. Hell, a 25 BB pot is pretty dam big and fairly rare.

He never really won any huge pots, just kept draggin those 10 BB pots over and over. I would've been annoyed if he kept running over me, but I was pretty much an observer except for a couple of hands (the flush beat, and another where he caught an undercard kicker on the river to steal the pot from my TP decent kicker).

It wasn't really noticable. I just happened to glance at his stack and noticed that he was way up since our first encounter.

I have been up that much playing party. When you get the right maniacs you may only need to win two pots to do it. In one instance I hit three 30+BB pots in an hour.

The heck of it is when you miss those consistently and get killed by the maniacs.

My record is one shy of that, 49 BB in an hour. Just got the sickest run of cards, won 61% of flops seen and 100% of showdowns. It happens.

My record is still 80 BB's in 75 minutes at the Absolute 10/20 table when some guy was donating to everyone making everyone else play kinda crazy too. Hit 2 full houses with pocket Queens and pocket Aces and 3 nut straights.

I dropped $200 in 20 minutes to some guy last night at a $100 PL short handed (2-4 person) table. I asked the nice man if he had an entire rabbit lodged up his ass....... that a-hole was hitting everything

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I'd expect to see monster swings like that in NL or PL, but in limit, it takes quite a sustained run of fortune to do that well in limit, unless they just happen to catch a couple monster pots (which wasn't the case).
