A funny question on a tax form

I just finished doing my taxes, and I found a funny question on the Massachusetts income tax form. The normal tax rate is 5.3%, but if you want, you have the option of paying 5.8%. I wonder haw many people take this option. I wonder if John Kerry took this option.

This has been there for at least a couple of years now. Howie Carr has mentioned it in his Herald column a few times. I forget how many he reported had chosen this option in 2003 but I do remember being surprised by how many had. But then again, this IS Massachusetts.
