I have a question about blackjack.
Here in Sweden blackjack is allowed in bars and so on, and runned by private firms. The only drawback is that if you get 17(or 18,19) and the house also gets 17(or 18,19), the house wins.

Would it even be worth trying to beat the game when its set up like this?

If ties go to the dealer, stay away from the game. I don't recall the exact % of house advantage it gives, but I do know that it is the worst rule for a player there is in blackjack.

I have never heard of a blackjack game where the tie goes to the dealer, execpt on some cruise ships. That rule makes the game totally unplayable == it will reduce your EV by -9.3%

so the expression, "push goes to the dealer" is a lie? i don't play blackjack but have seen many people play and watched the game for a bitwhile in vegas. if the player had kq and the dealer had jt, the dealer took the player's money... similarly, if the player had k9 and the dealer had q9 the dealer would once again take the player's bet from the little betting circle...

am i crazy??? or just not with it...but i konw what i saw and i know the expression "push goes to the dealer"

whats going on here?

I cant sure for sure if you are crazy, but I can say for sure that a push doesn't go to the house. The dealer usually knocks the table with his fist signifying a push and leaves your money in the circle. You could have seen a dealer make a mistake, it happens quite often actually.

There are games where ties go to the dealer. Thing is the dealer plays with two cards FACE UP! Now think about that, the house edge is still pretty good when they have two face up cards, imagine their edge when they don't show one card. It is staggering that anyone would play this game.

Hi my girlriend is a croupier on a swedish bj table in one of our local pubs.. You have got the rules right. The house wins if it get even on 17 18 19 20 21!
When she get her payment she also get's all the statistics for this casino and the house edge for the casino is 48.34%!!!!! offcourse the players are drunk and so on.. but anyway.. that is simply to much =) DON'T PLAY (if you not are deadly bored on dancing..) sry for bad english..

You don't have any chance at beating this game. Ties going to the house is an astronomical disadvantage to the player. Even if all the other rules are extremely favorable, this game is absolutely terrible. I don't know what the exact percentages would be (most books don't print it because it would be ludicrously bad), but I would say at LEAST 5-10% house advantage, probably more.

The only games in the U.S. where ties go to the house, as somebody else has pointed out, are double exposure games.

House edge is 5.76%. Basic strategy is available for those rules in www.rahapeliopas.info (http://www.rahapeliopas.info)

That has got to be the worst rule I've ever heard of in BJ. Even if you knew what cards were coming you wouldnt' be able to win.

Never heard that expression. In every US casino I've been to if it's a push (same total for dealer and player) the dealer knocks the table and you keep your wager.

This only time this ever sucks is if you get dealt BJ and the dealer has it too.

Even money?
