Optimal Single Table Strategy

I'm new to this forum. So if someone has already posed this question forgive me for bringing it up again. Just point me to the correct thread and i'll take it from there.

I play Single table Holdem and NL Holdem on party. I play very conservatively early in the limit tourneys and relatively loose early in the NL tournaments. What are some of you 2 + 2 er's opinion on the optimal strategy that one can adopt in these single table events?
