I'm in the process of starting up a live poker room and I'd like some opinions from poker players. I'm not sure if this is the right section to post but here goes.

What would attract you to a local poker room?

What features and/or amenities would you look for?

Would you drink? Eat?

Any input greatly appreciated.

Lots of fish, competent dealers and floorpeople, low rake structure.

This prob won't go over well, but, NO SMOKE

I also bowl (scratch) and the most distressing thing about Bowling and Casinos is smelling like cigarettes when I get home.

Just an opinion /images/graemlins/smile.gif

How about a "10 minute bar service guarantee" gimmick? If the waitress doesn't bring your drink in 10 minutes, it's on the house and the house will tip you instead. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

At my card room I'd be happy to get mine in 20... and I only order soda.

Absolutely. London desperately needs some live limit hold'em.

If you set up a comp system where players earm about $1/hour, I would play there. Of course, you also need a food and drink source as well.

In addition, I prefer enough room that the tables are not crowded.

I have noticed that the no smoking rules are pretty good as long as there is an area where smokers can go that isn't too far from the table.

Good chairs or chair cushions are a great plus.

The number 1 thing, though has to be good dealers. If your dealers are no good, your games will not survive.

Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress. I am interested in starting a similar venture in a few years.
