I think that Homer and bernie were the first posters to reach the 2.5k mark, and were awarded Carpal Tunnel status.

Then, the powers that be decided, for some reason, to change this new title to "Carpal \'Tunnel". Perhaps to demonstrate that people who had achieved this level had posted so much that they able to type accurately without their fingers clumsily hitting the punctuation keys. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif
