Anyone think MHIG?

Party 2/4. Not a very good table, plenty of PF raising and not much loose limping. Was going to change tables, but forgot to uncheck the auto-post /images/graemlins/confused.gif. So I'm in the BB and see AA. I would say all players at this table play reasonably well.

UTG limps. MP raises. Button cold calls. I (BB)3 bet. UTG calls 2 more. MP caps. All call.

4 to a capped PF. Flop brings Q J 5

I bet out. UTG folds. MP raises. Button folds. I 3 bet. MP caps! Ouch.

Heads up, turn was a brick. I check call.

River paired the J. (Q J 5) 4 J. I check call.

So, who thinks MHIG? What did MP have? Was I right to slow down?

You played this hand exactly how I would have played it. You are still beating AQ and KK. I'm not sure what other capping hand you are beating though. I would't be confident enough to put in any more raises, but I'd probably still call down to see QQ, JJ, or QJs.

Does anyone fold here, or does everyone call down?

I'm confused about this one. After the flop MP probably has you figured for aces and clearly isn't scared. What could he have? J's Q's? I don't figure him for QJ. AQ or AJ is a possibility, but would he cap the flop with TPTK?
When the river hits I'd narrow it down to Q's. I kinda rule out 5's here because of preflop action. Also, I don't think he has J's. KK might be a possibility, but what would he figure you for other than AA? So, i'm now thinking he has Q's, although capping the flop with Q's might seem weird?

I don't really know about check calling to the river. Betting out will probably get you raised, but now you hardly know where you stand...

Hopefully your opponent had an overplayed AQ suited or KK.

I'd still bet out and call a raise on the turn, then check call the river (or bet out again if my turn bet didn't get raised).

I think I had to check call the turn and river tho. QQ and JJ were just too likely given the flop action.

Yeah, I couldnt make it in before the results but I was gonna say KK was definitely the big favorite for his hand. if he is close to a decent player like you say. AQ/AK aren't going to cap preflop especially EP, possibly QQ? doubtful for JJ. Flopping a set then raising before the third player could act wouldn't seem right either.. looks like trying to get him to fold an unpaired ace. Definitely weird for him to cap the flop though when he should have you on AA or QQ, after that I don't think I could have checkraised either.. nice hand
