Just playing on Party and had a thought provoking incident. I got J3o 4 times in a row followed by T5o 3 times in a row! What are the odds of that. Has anyone ever gotten AKo multiple times in a row? It's just interesting that they were such bad hands.

Better than getting JJ four times in a row and having them go down in flames each time. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

the coolest string of hands I've had was live,
Hadd AA, KK, QQ, JJ.. in order.
people were moaning when the action got to me.

"he raises.. of course"

I won the AA and the JJ, and folded the QQ on an AKx flop, and lost to a turned straight on the KK.

About one out of 24 billion.

There are 169 types of hands out of 1326 distinct hands. There are 12 distinct hands for each unsuited hand type. There are 78 distinct paired hands, 312 distinct suited hands, and 936 distinct unsuited non-pairs.

Given that you start with an unsuited hand, the chance of getting the same hand type on the next deal is 12/1326. Four of these in a row is about 1.3 million to one against. Getting another unsuited non-pair next is 1.4:1, and getting that twice more is 12210:1.

Given 40,000 people playing online at 60 h/hr, 24 hours a day, it would take 26 years for this situation to come up.

Wow. The probability of that is (1/169)^7, or odds of about 4E15:1, i.e. essentially impossible. Except for the fact that it's exactly the same as the probability of any other secquence of 7 2-card hands. You just happened to notice and have an emotional response to the occurance of this particular (hopefully) random sequence. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I've had the same hand in a row on Party at least 3 or 4 times and I haven't been playing there long.

I've heard that over an infinite amount of time, if you had an infinite number of monkeys playing an infinite number of hands on Party...

Never mind...someone's already working on this one.

You'd never get a useful response from support.

On thursday playing party .5/1...at one point there were three out of four hands in a row where TWO players both had pocket Aces...i just logged off after seeing that. Besides none of them were me.

I've often had similar sort of observations while playing against TTHE. I'll get something like Qh 8d on one hand and the very next hand get Qd 8h. I don't think I've ever seen it 4 times in a row like that but I do sort of growl at the screen when it happens (which, surprisingly, doesn't seem to help).

The odds that something that has already occured did occur is 1:1.

The first four hands I ever played at Party were as follows: (NL$100) KK, doubled up; AA, which I folded when two nines flopped and there was heavy action (I would have won that hand against two smaller pocket pairs); AKs, doubled up again when I got payed off by a lesser ace; KK I won about $75. Needless to say, I liked partypoker from the start. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm playing 3 party tables and I'm dealt a PP on each table. I think "heh, wonder what the odds of that are". I was dealt KK JJ and 99. First flop that comes up is the JJ table, and the flop is KKx "arg, damn, why couldnt I have that at my KK table". (I folded this hand as it was bet, raised and called before it got to me), then I get the flop on the KK table, and its JJx "god damnit!! wonder what the odds of that are?" (I lose this one to the idiot who cold called my pre flop 3 bet with J7o).....then my 99 tables takes the flop, and I honestly expecting to see 99x (I prolly would have quit playing party if it had, as that would just be to much coincidence to be actual coincidence) but it was Q high uncordinated (I won when everyone folded to my flop bet).

Also had two flops come at almost the exact same time on two different tables the other day and it was the exact same flop, suits and everything.....wierd stuff

The probability of that would be the same as the probability of getting dealt 27o, 5To, AKo, AJo, K9o, 45o and J8o.

On this weekend I had seven times pocket queens in about 100 hands. Strange, too. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Party 2/4 table a couple weekends ago and we had quads 3 hands in a row. 7's then 6's then 5's. Thankfully I had the 55 in the third hand and got paid off nicely.
