Why don't Bush and Kerry take lie detector tests instead of debates

Don't you think Bush would avail himself of this training?

So if he passes it is a conspiracy. And if he fails it is only because he wants to because the lie would only be a ruse to throw people off.

"Lie detectors" are unreliable. Ridgeway - the Green River serial killer - pasted his lie detector tests in the 1980's. Numerous other examples abound. The test is not scientific (at the present stage of technology) and the results are ambiguous at best.
