I was in the Empire $50/$5 multi table tourney. There were 20 places paid. I had a little more than the average stack. First place was $3000, 2nd place $2000 Third place $1000 on down to 20th place that paid $100.
I picked up pocket aces in very early position. I called and reraised the blind position raiser. My thinking was to win a large pot and shoot for the $3000 rather than try to just make the 20th place for $100. That was 'my slow play thinking'.
I could have waited to raise the turn but with two suited cards I did not want to encourage a lone suitor to pick up the one card flush draw. I should have skipped the river bet but did not expect a four to be out after all of this action. Should I have slow played? Should I have raised the flop or wait for the turn. I don't think I would have lost the A4 player anyway. How would you have played this hand?
