View Full Version : Hurry Up and Fold, Next Hand

I think that 100% of the time I've seen a player bet on the river and, while his opponent is considering whether to call or not, he starts/fakes the motion of mucking, that is, apparently anticipating that the prospective caller will fold, the bettor has a hand that he wants to have called.

Looking back at his/her cards, however, seems to be not as clear: sometimes it indicates "I want a call" and sometimes "I'm bluffing."

Totally agree. I was talking about this with a friend just the other day. I have a hard time detecting tells, but this is the one generic tell that I've seen that usually is correct. After a river bet, when the player either looks at his cards so that people around can see or if he starts a mucking motion, this indicates that he has a hand that is strong enough to win. Incidentally, I will now be using this move off and on when playing against 2+2ers. Anyone else have some good generic tells?
