Playing 2Pair/Two Higher Cards On the Board

I was recently in a $3/$6 game 7-handed and curious how you gentleman would have played it.

I was in MP with 10 /images/graemlins/spade.gif 10 /images/graemlins/club.gif

EP raised, MP (me) raised, LP & BUT called, SB & BB folded.

Flop: 4 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif A /images/graemlins/heart.gif

EP bet, MP called, LP and BUT both folded.

Heads up on the turn: J /images/graemlins/club.gif

I had two pair, but the overcards shook me away. I folded. Was this correct?

Hi ShortStack,

I think you are deceiving yourself a bit by saying that you have two pair here. Anyone who has a pair at all has two pair as well.

I would just fold on the Flop. Any hand that EP would raise with pre-Flop has you beat on the Flop unless he is a maniacal player. Even if somehow he has KQ, there are still two players left to act behind you who could have the Ace. A 4 is a remote possibility, and theres also a Flush draw out there. In other words, theres a slim possibility you are ahead, and even if you are somehow ahead at the time, there are tons of cards that could come to beat you. Fold the Flop.
