I went to play poker at Harrah's Friday night and thought I would write a post to give anyone an idea of what it's all about.
Harrah's has a poker room with 15 tables. They had four $10-20 Limit Hold'em, (I think one or two) $20-$40 Limit Hold'em, four $1-$5 7-Card Stud with a $.50 ante, and one $2-$10 stud, a $5-$10 Omaha 8B. The biggest game running was the $30-$60 1/2 Stud and 1/2 Omaha 8B (I think that game was reserved for Ray Zee).
The Hold'em Jackpot is now over $12,000, Omaha 8B is over $6,000, and the 7-Card Stud is over $7,000.
After reading SPMs posts on the other forum, I just had to go there and play to see what it was all about. Got a seat in a $10-$20 Hold'em game. The wait was about 40 minutes, not too bad. It's much better playing there now since they eliminated the stupid state law for boarding times, so you could get on whenever you wanted.
It turned out to be a very profitable night. I did get aces once and had them cracked in a four way pot, but that's usually what I expected to happen after reading SPMs posts. But, my other hands held up and decided to leave when the bad players left after they ran out of money. The table I had was pretty tame. Over half the pots played were raised, but none of that rediculous capping. The action averaged at least three or four handed in a raised pot. Even a family pot occurred! Rarely was there any chopping, because the players were craving action.
I highly recommend going to Harrah's in East Chicago. Maybe, Ray Zee will show up. On my way there I did see from the tollway a guy fishing in a small lake not far from the Casino.
Good Luck
