This has been the most frustrating poker week of my life.

1. I've came to realize that 2+2 is one of the rudest forums I've ever seen, and 95% of 2+2'ers are smart-*ss, A-holes.

2. Had an ordeal with Party Poker of which I posted about already, where I had a hand of 3's full of Q's, but the pot was pushed to another player who had 3, 3's, Ace high.

3. I have registered at 7 Sultans Poker because they are offering $15 free with no deposit, but they had to verify my Prima activation code through email because I forget it. So I cant play poker there until I get that email and I've already been waiting 3 days with no email, I even emailed support yesterday and still have not heard anything.

4. There was the ordeal last night where I witnessed 3 players from Bergen, Norway playing on the same table at ACR. And from what I hear these players from Bergen are like the internet poker crime syndicate.

5. There was the ordeal last night with all the sites crashing.

6. During the ordeal last night, I was playing in the freeroll on ACR when it happened and it was so slow I only saw 3 hands in 30 minutes and then, while on my table a message popped up and said, "this table has been removed, we are moving you to another table" Then the damn thing crashes and freezes up, so I wait for another 30 minutes then it finally resumes itself with only one problem. I wasnt in the tournament. I wasnt on any tables, I wasnt on the list of active players, and I wasnt even on the list of eliminated players. It was like I was never in the damn thing to begin with. I email support, and they said they forwarded it to the cardroom manager, so Im waiting for a reply on that.

7. Then, this morning I just got pushed over the edge. I just want to play poker. I got up extra early, to sign up for the freeroll on the Gaming Club. Registration started at 1:00. So I sat there and waited for registration to start, and when the clock hit zero and registration started, I clicked the join button and a message popped up that said, the tournament had already reached its maximum participants of 400. Funny thing was, I clicked it at the first second of registration and nobody was even on the list yet. So I clicked join again and same message popped up, but still no players on the list, so I hit join again, same thing, again same thing, again same thing. So I decide that maybe If I log off real quick and log back on, It will do something. So I try to log of and log back on real quick. Only one problem, now we have to do a damn server upgrade, which takes about 7 or 8 minutes, and when I finally get back on, the damn things is filled up for real.

8. Since I want to play poker so badly, I fire up PokerStars and see they have a freeroll starting, so I sign up for that only to realize I have to beat out 4,883 entrants. And the great thing is: If I do beat out all them, I dont win a damn thing, except an entry into another tournament on Sunday, in which I could win $100 for first place. WhooHoo.

So that leads me here, and to my rant about Internet frustration. Live games are funner anyway. Goodbye internet.

i'll try not to be rude but rather be completely honest.

you seem like you're complaining about freerolls and play money. does this seem odd to everyone else? oh poor you, you have to beat 4,000 other cheap bastards who can't afford entry to a tournament.

you can't blame people for not believing you about the pot being pushed to another player.. it helps to have a hand history. i understand they don't have these for play money.. but if it's play money what's the big deal then?

Ulysses

You played some play money poker and some free tourneys or something and didn't like it for a number of reasons. In case you read this, I'm curious, why did you feel the need to write that long post about it? Why not just not play and be done with it?

Do you realize that by saying 95% of 2+2'ers are A-holes, you have defined yourself as one as well?

BTW, you are certainly exaggerating. It's 93%, tops.

2. Had an ordeal with Party Poker of which I posted about already, where I had a hand of 3's full of Q's, but the pot was pushed to another player who had 3, 3's, Ace high.

Not playing at ACR and Prima sites will solve most of your problems. You don't really have much justification in complaining considering the fact that you are a freeroll player and are not generating any profit for these sites.

WhooHoo.

It is a freeroll, you should be happy to win anything. And if you aren't, deposit some money into the site and play in a real money game. Either that, or stop playing.

I'm going to use Occam's Razor and call BS on this one. Either you experienced an event that no one else has verifiably done (had the pot pushed to the wrong person), or you misread your hand or are incorrectly remembering how the hand went down.

I didn't find your reply rude Daryn. I was refering to the people who say, go f*ck yourself, and such things.

Please provide links to posts in which things like these were said unwarranted.

Whats the big deal if its play money you ask? Obviously there is no money involved so I could care less about that, the big deal is the fact that it happened at all.

This makes no sense to me.

Also, I believe it is more likely that you misread the board than the pot was shoved to the wrong player, for two reasons:

1) In the 1.5 years I've been playing on Party, I've never seen such a thing take place.

2) Since you're playing in play money games, you probably have little poker experience, and as such, are more likely to misread the board.

Unlike you and the other pro's who sit on your ass all day trying to grind out a living. You tell me who's the shmuck.

To make things worse, most pro's actually play in a live game with real people. But you guys on here, on the internet board dont. You spend all day staring at a computer, in an isolated room, trying to grind out your bills. Sounds like fun, but i guess Im not interested in a smucks life. So dont call me a cheap bastard and chastise me for playing freeroll. Some people arent poor shmucks who sit at a poker table all day, or worse sit in front of their computer all day trying to grind out a living.

Nevermind, I found my own link.

I don't see what your problem is with people playing online for a living. There are many benefits:

1) You don't have to deal with corporate BS.

2) You can set your own hours.

3) Your return is based strictly on performance in the long run, which cannot be said for many jobs.

4) Many people can make more money playing online than by taking a "normal" job.

...etc.

1. You need to get out more. There are plenty of ruder forums out there--try reading almost any of the ones related to fitness/weightlifting or martial arts for example. Personally I think you want to have your cake and eat it too.

2. Was this really an ordeal to you? Goodness, wait till you hit a really bad rush playing with real money. You will look upon this as the golden days of yore.

3. Boo hoo. Three whole days, you say? And there is nowhere else you can find to play in the meantime? What can I say about this that hasn't already been said?

4. Another ordeal. Those guys from Bergen may be colluding but some of them are so awful that they are certainly losing whatever the good ones win. I sat down in that ACR $4/8 game with only 6 players, 3 of which were from Bergen and another from another city in Norway. One hour and $150 later I packed up and left. That's not something I'd do everyday but since $4/8 games at ACR are like hen's teeth and I'm playing with promobucks the risk was small on my part. So my points are that even (possibly) colluding Bergener's can be beaten and noone is forcing you to play with them anyway.

I actually have a nice view of the mountain. I was a B&M pro and I can't stand playing live any more. It is no longer true that most pros play live.

So dont call me a cheap bastard and chastise me for playing freeroll.

Cheap bastard. I have respect for newbies grinding it out in freerolls because they have little money to spend on poker starting out. They take won freeroll money into the micros and learn the game the hard way. Many here have gone that route. You say it's not the money then it must be the lack of balls holding you back. At the moment they don't have any freeroll tournaments for those.

Some people arent poor shmucks who sit at a poker table all day, or worse sit in front of their computer all day trying to grind out a living.

I happen to like this life. So does my wife. You are critizing a lifestyle which you know little about. I think you are just a little whiner and poker already has enough of those. Good-by

Learn to play better.

I, like the majority of people on this forum, play poker primarily for fun/entertainment. There are plenty of top-notch online pros like MS Sunshine around as well, but they are the minority. There are also a number of people paying the bills playing at low limits. While that doesn't sound very fun to me, I do know that many of those people make a lot more than a lot of B&M pros I know.

Most of us here, though, enjoy playing the game and it's primarily for entertainment/recreation. And what's great about this hobby is that if you do it well you make a lot of money. I can't say that for any of my other hobbies.

He bets, I raise, he just calls. Arh, he's only got 1 3.
The turn is a Q. Yessssss Quads. We cap.
River brings the T of diamonds. Oh my god I've hit a Royal. What an idiot my opponent is, he keeps re-raising. After we cap the cards are turned over and I watch in dis-belief as the pot is pushed his way.

WTF, he had KK in the hole, a good hand but last time I looked it didn't beat a Royal.

I'm still waiting to hear from Party. I would post the hand history but I don't belief in all that rubbish

I have not read any of the other responses yet, however I think 80% of the 95% that you mention might take umberage with your A hole comment. /images/graemlins/confused.gif I do not fall under the 5% percentile.

I recently quit playing internet poker for my own reasons.

Send me a pm and we can commiserate together. I will tell you about my conspiracy theories.

I lost over 400$ in REAL money today to butt heads calling a raise with 6 7 offsuit. I lost 6 pairs 10's and higher today on PP, AA lost twice and your whining about freerolls?
Maybe checkers is more your game.

What does using real money have to do with anything?

When it comes to poker, everything. It has to do with that risk/reward thing. Even folks playing 50-$1 understand that.

I play PS2 video games too, for fun. And there is no money or gambling involve in that.

I enjoy skiing and I don't put money to risk on that. I put my body. How many cracked ribs have you gotten from ps2? I understand now that you're one of those safe kinda guys. You wish to compete, but are unwilling to risk anything of yourself. That's cool dude, but don't expect a warm welcome from those that do.

Seems that if you have to gamble or have money on the line in order to have fun, you may have a problem. Kind of like the saying you dont need alcohol to have fun?

Now you get it. Wait, that was sarcasm right?

What's wrong with looking at stocks? If you're looking at
mostly the Big Board and heavily traded Nasdaq stocks, is it
all that bad? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

He's not a nit! Nits will be taking most of the money in
sportsbetting, backgammon and poker!

Or am I to believe a nit = nerd in training (from the
urban dictionary) ? Okay, maybe he's training for one form
of the 9 to 5 grind.

You'd be alot cooler if you had -EV playing freerolls, that at least would make you unique, instead of just a run of the mill idiot (yup, im in the 95%).

You quit.

I'm not the one whinning about quitting and then not doing it. No wonder you're no good at poker, you don't have any dicipline.

Why do you have to make money at it for it to be fun?
...
I play video games and that is fun.

[/ QUOTE ]

When did I say that? As I mentioned, I have a lot of hobbies. None of my other hobbies make me money, but they are all fun. If someone paid me for snowboarding, soccer, going to concerts, drinking great wine and scotch, reading books, eating at fine restaurants, or watching movies, I think that would make all of those activities even more fun for me, though.

BTW, you never responded to this post of mine:

You played some play money poker and some free tourneys or something and didn't like it for a number of reasons. In case you read this, I'm curious, why did you feel the need to write that long post about it? Why not just not play and be done with it?

Unlike you and the other pro's who sit on your ass all day trying to grind out a living. You tell me who's the shmuck.

You spend all day staring at a computer, in an isolated room, trying to grind out your bills. Sounds like fun, but i guess Im not interested in a smucks life...Some people arent poor shmucks who sit at a poker table all day, or worse sit in front of their computer all day trying to grind out a living.

How exactly does working on a computer make me a shmuck? You say it like only degenerate losers make their money sitting at a computer all day. Do you call the other 90% of corporate America shmucks too? I honestly want to know what you see is so wrong with playing poker online for a living...

So what do you do for a living? I guess you don't spend all day sitting on your ass, staring at a computer screen, and maybe you're even one of the lucky few in the world who has a job that allows you to stay active, work reasonable hours, make good money, and avoid staring at computer screens at all. And I guess that you think most successful professional (scientists, I-bankers, accoutants, lawyers, engineers, etc.) are living a schmuck's life because they sit on their ass doing just that, often for longer hours than a poker player, and almost always with someone else telling them what hours they must keep. Most of the best-paying professional jobs in the world today involve exactly that.

Shmucks, you say? Well I say I'm offended. Not only because I have a good, well-paying job that requires me to sit on my ass and stare at a computer screen most of the day, but also because I would trade it in in a heartbeat if I could make 2/3 as much money playing poker (and that includes even if I had to work as many hours as I do now).

So please, go off and live your charmed, internet-free life, and leave those of use who enjoy poker in all its forms (as well as each other's company, advice and support) alone.

Unfortunately for us, as one poster has already astutely pointed out, you'll be back.

With that attitude, it would depend if he were playing 2-player games or not.

Yeah it really sucks to be able to work you own hours, as opposed to have to to do the 9-5 thing sitting in a cube in front of a computer surrounded by a bunch of annoying co-workers only to make less $ than you do sitting in your underwear at home playing a game.

Hey I love playing live poker, but until they open some card rooms in SW VA (not gonna happen) or I decide to move to Vegas (also not gonna happen) I don't really have much choice other than this whole internet thing. Its certain;y not for everyone but don't come on here and bad mouth all the people who can pull it off just because its not your thing.

funnily I have found this one of the most friendliest forums I have been on, there is the odd spat and complaints by some about small stakes but I have found all the forums including in particular micro and small stakes full of people who are happy to help, explain, correct and even praise as appropriate.

In return I try to do the same (although my contribution tends to not be aboutr theory), its like everything you get out what you put in.

Some people do talk crap and maybe inflate their achievments but there are some really valuble people on here who could have helped you in a big way with your game, your ending on this forum is your loss not theirs.

I 2nd this statement. I too find it odd that you are one of the only ones to ever gripe about the rudeness of this forum.

If you posted your initial rant to elicit numerous responses, mission accomplished. But I think you'll be hard pressed to get any good advice from this point on from any of the solid, helpful players on this forum if you do ever come back.
