I must be bored at work because this is my third post of day. Or maybe it’s because I am doubting my play.

Suspects to see showdown:
MP - Mike E. Vegas
CO - Punk Kid who just turned 21 and is drunk and keeps telling the table this is his first time playing casino poker. Also is adamant in letting us know that he is going to take all of our money.

I'm dealt K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

It's folded to me and I raise, folded to CO who 3 bets, BB calls and I call.

Background: I've seen the kid raise PF with as little as Axs from MP and the only time I've seen him 3 bet was with a flush draw on the turn. Back to original story.

Going to the flop 3 handed for 9 1/2 SB's

The Flop:

5/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/club.gif 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

BB check, I check, CO bets, BB folds, and I call. I really wanted to fold, but thought with the pot the size it was and the possible long shot draws I have I should stay and see the turn. This was probably a poor choice.

Seeing the turn Heads up for 11 1/2 SB's

The turn:

I check, CO bets, I raise and he calls. Wow, I think I just might be ahead here.

Heads up to the river for 9 3/4 BB's

The River:

Ok, great...an over card. And now I decide that this would be a good time to think about what this Kid might be holding. I probably should have been doing this through-out the hand. The obvious holding would be a pocket pair, AA-88 where I am only beating 10's and 8's. I guess the next hand would involve A-paint suited/off. I'm guessing if it were A-J or JJ I would have heard about it on the turn so the only one of those hands I'm winning against is A-K. And then again this kid is pretty drunk and he could have 2's! So decide to bet and he calls. Results to follow.

If you think you are going to call a flop bet you should strongly consider betting, especially if the "kid" is the type to slow down when he meets resistance and could be knocked of an A.

You should have been thinking about the "kid's" hand on the flop when you called, as you don't like your chances against a dominating hand like AK or AA.

I would generally bet this river, although against a good player you can't like the turn call of the check-raise. Is the "kid" LAG enough to bluff most hands you check to him with and how likely is it he calls with a worse hand if you bet? Many really drunk types bluff too much (although they call too much as well).

In general I would be more concerned with the range of hands he calls the turn check-raise with than the Q on the river.

Well, I guess the kid wasn't drunk enough! I showed my Jack and he turned over his cowboys to take down the pot. The funny thing was before I showed he told me that my queens were good and when he say my jack he got mad at himself for not raising the river. Good times..... thanks JR for your reply, I'll keep your points in mind for the next time.
