Nope, this isn't a hand post about pocket 6's but rather the number BB's I lost in a $3-6 5 hour session at Casino AZ. That's a average of -13 BB/hr! Is this a record! I'm not sure if this post even belongs here, but I'm so fustrated right now I guess I just don't care. I was just curious if anyone else has had a session like this. Up to this point I had been make making just over 2 BB/hr in my first 62 hours of B&M play. I know that this isn't enough hours to prove anything, but it did at least give me a little bit of confidence in my play which is all but shattered at this point.

One fun hand from the night:

The suspects that made it to showdown:
UTG+1: Superfish playing any two
Button: Fish playing every other hand, gambling it up.
BB: Me, the guy with angry look on his face.

I get dealt 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I get to see if for free, along with 6 limpers.

7 Players to the Flop for 7 sb's

The Flop:

5/images/graemlins/spade.gif J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I check, BB bets, called by 4 limpers and me. (Usually I like to raise here, but I was getting tired of pumping up pots at this point and not hitting. I guess when I get like this I should just go home.)

6 Players to the turn for 13 sb's,

The turn:

5/images/graemlins/heart.gif

Good card for me!

I check, BB bets, 4 limpers call, I raise and am called by both BB and button.

3 Players to the River for 14 1/2 BB's

The River:

J/images/graemlins/spade.gif

Good card, I guess? I bet out and am called by BB and Button. BB has K-8o for a pair of K's and Button has J-10o for the rivered Jacks full of 5's to take out my 5's full of J's. I guess I was lucky I didn't get raised here?

I know that I'm supposed to embrace getting sucked out on 2 outer hands because of the long term gain, but it sure hurts in the short term. It was just one of those nights where I was best on the turn, and second best on the river on all of the big pots I was in. Also had K's vs A's twice and J's vs. Q's once. Oh well, thanks for letting me rant a little bit.

Losing $400 in 5 hours at 3/6 is not a record: in fact, its not noteworthy at all. As long as you are willing to RISK $400 in a night, figure to lose that much 4-5 times a year; more often if you play bad or loose.

I'm sure you've read about it but you really need to embrace the notion that poker is a VERY high varience game. Maybe a few more RUDE SHOCKS will wake you up.

2bb/hour is pretty high for someone who hasn't played all that much. You got lucky before and got unlucky yesterday.

On the river, "K" and "J" are the worst cards you can get; then probably a diamond (all of these improve your hand). Just because you "improved" doesn't mean its good. The community cards at holdem make it VERY much a relative-game; where the value of your hand is based on its relative value to other likely hands.

Flop: Pair + flushdraw 7-way. Bet or checkraise.
River: "Good card, I guess?". How can you think this is a good card? The only worse card is a king. You would much rather have taken your trip fives against top pair. "I guess I was lucky I didn't get raised here?" Yea.

Good card, I guess?

that is one of the worst cards you can get. what do you think the other players are calling you with? i would think one if not both have a pair from the board, or maybe a 4 flush. that jack counterfeits your hand and i would have checked into them on the river. when you are down on your luck it is easy to play passively however, a raise on the flop here could have gotten rid of the TJ guy and won you the pot......as for the swings, it is all a part of the game, happens to everyone. but if you are feeling negative about the game and not playing your hands correctly, you should leave as you are adding to your loss due to your bad play and not unlucky cards.

My bad, I guess I forgot to mention there was a bit of sarcasim in this statment. I knew that this was one of the 4 cards I didn't want to see. When I bet, I had the intention of folding to a raise(I guess either check-folding/check-calling would have been correct). Thanks for the feedback all.
