View Full Version : Biloxi or S'port???

Since they closed the only poker room in Vicksburg, I'm thinking about a little trip and trying to decide which place to go. I'm a little closer to Shreveport but not that far from Biloxi either. Any info on either place re best games, limits, where to stay, special room rates for poker players, etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Played at Hollywood's in Shreveport Saturday night. Only place in town to play. They spread $4-$8, $10-$20 and $20-$40 Hold'em and $1-$5 and $2-$10 Stud. Played the $4-$8 game. Loose passive with 5 to 6 seeing every flop. Nobody raising pre or postflop. The "Poker Room" or pit, a better way to describe it, is located in between the slots and table games. Alot of people watching and jumping in for $40 to $60. They only have 6 tables so the list was long. Took about 3 hrs to get in the $4-$8 game. My friend wanted 7 hours before he got called for the $10-$20 game. Dealers are slow and do not keep the game moving. No real disputes but one guy and myself got into it when the dealer exposed a card then used it as the burn card before the flop. He thought the dealer should have burned another card and I tried to explain the dealer was correct in using it as the burn card. After about 2 minutes the dealer finally said something and we moved on. They have no poker room rates or comps for poker players. Hollywood's does have a nice hotel but it is pricey (Around $100 during the weekend and $150 on the weekend). They also have a $5 rake. I am glad a casino in Shreveport brought poker back since I live in Dallas but Biloxi would probably be better.

Hi JT,

The only poker room I have visted was the Grand in Biloxi. While the Poker room was small but nice, I promised myself I would never gamble in Biloxi, or Mississippi again. I just really don't like the element of people in Biloxi. It's ashame that the south really has no good poker games to mention but maybe someday they will clean up their acts. For now I would stick to LA.

Sorry if I could not be of more help, but I would not reccomend going to Biloxi or Gulfport to play poker.

The grand in Biloxi is my regular room. The 10-20 HE is decent during the weekdays and often better on the weekends. The also spread 20-40 stud (not worth playing 90% of the time), 1-4-8-8 HE, 4-8 O/8 with a half kill, and 1-5 stud. Rake is $3 in all games, but stud, where it's $4. A dollar is dropped for the bad beat jackpot in all games, but the 20-40 stud. There are special poker rates for the hotel.

If you see a young Indian fellow playing 10-20 HE, say hi. /images/smile.gif

When I was in Biloxi two months ago...the 10-20 game was very soft! I did very well when I was out there. The lower limits were very passive...both games are very beatable in my opinion.

I am going to Biloxi this coming week? Is the Grand the best place for Hold'em? Or do you have anymore recommendations?
