Poker Table undergarmets - foam vs carpet padding

A question for any of you who have built, researched, or have a strong opinion either way.

In terms of table construction, under the felt which to you prefer - foam, carpet padding or something else.

Which do you prefer and why?

I have always used carpet padding in the past, and that works great. If you are making a table for sale, then maybe foam would be better, but I used Carpet padding on my semi-professional table and it works awesome. It's cheap also.

I use foam carpet padding on my table. It was $5 for a 6' by 4' sheet and it works wonderfully.
