Average game, average players, low limit because it shouldn't happen at mid or high limit.

This is is just a general question, apply any hand and board you like that fits the idea. You are in a hand with say X other players for 1 BB each preflop. You may be in the BB or may not have made a good preflop call.

Flop comes nothing special, and it's checked to you and your hand is good enough for a check but not to bet or raise. Checked around to the turn.

Turn comes and there is a bet. Play gets to you and you don't have proper odds. You do have a mediocre hand. You will have odds on the river to make a crying call and your hand could improve, but it's slim.

So here's the crux, you don't have the odds on the turn, but you can make a proper odds crying call on the river with a hand that isn't a winner very frequently.

Do you fold on the turn, or hang around and make that crying call with a mediocre hand? What is your opinion and why?

OK, what?

This post doesn't make any sense.

You should calculate the odds of your river call based on your combined calls on the turn and river.

Sure it does, you lose money each way. Do you fold the turn while you do not have the odds? Or play to the river which you may win occasionally for a different loss but give some table action?

And do what with them?

If you're going to make money overall by calling the turn and river, call.

If you're going to lose money overall by calling the turn and river, fold.
