Hey Folks,

I am planning a road trip from Toronto to Atlantic City in mid/late Feb. My route takes me East through Kingston, down to Syracuse, down to NYC, then to AC, then probably back through CT and North to Syracuse before heading back North of the border. Everything is in the rough stages now, so the route may change depending on how stuck I get. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The purpose of the trip is... obviously to play poker. I'll be making stops at Turning Stone, NYC (NYKenny or whomever -- I might need a hand here), AC (obviously) then maybe swing through Foxwoods on my way back.

Questions: does anyone know of a decent cardroom to play at between Turning Stone and NYC? My timetable has me spending a night somewhere between these two places...also I know -nothing- about poker in AC, other than it exists. I'd be looking for games in the 40-80 to 60-120 ranges, and some pot/no-limit. Stud and omaha would be great too, somewhere in the 20-40 range, as well as some tournament fun. Suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

-Diplomat

If you want to play those limits play at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. None of the other casinos go as high as $40-$80. On occasion they will spread a $40-$80 game at the Borgata, however I only saw that when they had the WPT event.

The Borgata has a $5-$10 blind pot limit game. The Trop has a small $300 max buy in $1-$2 blind no limit game they run every day.

You will have no problem finding the higher limit stud games. I have seen the Taj spread stud games as high as $500-$1000. The $75-$150 game goes almost every weekend.

I believe the biggest limits at Turning Stone are 15-30, but they may be higher now. Plus they have some loopy rule where you have to buy a day pass for $2 and pay rake. Weird. As for spending a night between Turning Stone and NYC, my question is why? TS is about a 45 min drive east of Syracuse so I guess Albany is in the middle but there isn't much going on there unless ZManODS (is he still around?) is having a home game for $2-$4. From Turning Stone you can get to NYC in about 4 hours on the thruway. I'd either stay there for the night or drive thru to NYC. I grew up upstate NY, not much there.

As for NYC getting a game there requires you to know someone to get in. If you're looking for help you should probably ask for PMs in the B&M forum.

NYC to AC is about two and a half hours on the annoying Jersey Turnpike. (Kurn, you're flat out wrong about it being better than I-95 /images/graemlins/smile.gif) If you're doing an odd hours mid-week trip it'll be about 2 hours. MG gave you AC details and I'm not sure how big games get at the Taj on the weekend.

FW is about 2 1/2 hour from NYC also on an annoying I-95 which will have traffic during any rush hour. FW has been a zoo recently so if you're going on a weekend, get there early. They get some really big games but they are usually either stud or mixed games like H-OE or SHO (no stud/8). Hold 'em gets up to 20-40 with a PL game and I guess a NL game I've never seen go.

FW back to Toronto is forever. Its about a 6 1/2 hour drive to my parents north of Syracuse so you're probably looking at something like 11 or 12 hours. Stop back at turning stone on the way back. Either that or go to Turning Stone, then FW, then NYC, then AC, go back up through Pennsylvania and play at the Seneca Casino is eastern NY and go home through Niagra Falls. Biggambler (ironic name) from the SS forum can give you info on Seneca Casino and I think there was something in B&M a couple of months ago. Ok, I've talked your ear off enough. Sounds like fun.

Diplomat,

I know of places for 20-40 Stud and 10-20 Hold'em and 40-80 Hold'em. Let me know ahead of time so I can plan my schedule around it a bit.

PM me for personal contact info. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you are coming up to Foxwoods make sure you plan on staying for a few days to be worth wild. I say this due to the fact that Fox is a Zoo on the weekends. In turn, the games are really really good.

Higher games are usually mixed games 50-100, 75-150, and 100-200 have been running as of late.

I haven't seen the PL game in a few weeks, but the NL game has been running consistantly now and is soft. I've watched plently of it as it's been up near the board when I've been waiting for 10/20.

I'm not sure where the best places to stay are as I live 50 mins but others may elaborate if need be. Fox is expensive on the weekends but there are plenty of hotels within 20 minutes.

PM me if you need any direction/help.

Peace,
Joe Tall

Since you're planning on stopping in NYC, I'd go to Foxwoods first, then NYC and finally AC. It is much easier going south thru NYC (crossing the Hudson is so much easier). On your return you could stay west and bypass the city entirely (which does not work well going to Foxwoods). I'm quite familar with the roads 60 miles each side of NYC. If you'd like I'll be glad to provide some detail.

Hi BOSS,

FYI, I was at FW this past Saturday and they had a NL game going $200 buy in, I think the blinds were 5/10.

The 15/30 goes daily at Turning Stone now.

Between there and NYC there isn't really much unless someone knows of home games in Albany - I know they are there but don't have contact info - some of these get pretty large from what I hear.

Or you can drive right through to NYC or even over to FW. The drive from Turning stone to NYC isn't that bad at all or you could pause in Albany where the hotel rooms are cheaper.

Just outside NYC there is a very small card room/private club called the Rounders. They require a $55 membership fee, and the biggest game they spread is $10/20

The game starts at about 7PM and lasts through the night.

You can call them at 732-271-0003 to see if they are still in operation.

The police shut them down over the summer.
