I'd be shocked if this was not the very last of the "big halftime spectaculars" at the Super Bowl.

I mean, this was abject. Inane. Moronic.

If this is what Americans want for an "extravaganza," we should all be ashamed of ourselves for having failed to evolve into anything of any value whatsoever.

Good thing we have TiVo to see if it was a nipple or a pasty.

And I didn't think it was possible that the Lingerie bowl would be outdone.

The halftime show USED to be an exceptionally good college marching band like Grambling or Florida A&M or something. I wouldn't mind seeing that make a comeback.

wow, i just assumed that like me, everyone else just changed the channel during halftime and watched something else for a half hour.

Normally, of course, I do. Unfortunately, this year, we had "people over," which included, you know, well, women.

Need I say more?

My understanding is that CBS and the NFL are livid. A report this morning states that Timberlake called it a wardrobe malfunction hehe. The NFL has already come out and stated MTV will never produce another half time show. I hate hip hop and rap so it's no skin off of my nose.

And to top it off, CBS didn't even let us see the trouble
maker just before the second half kick! What was the name
of the gambling site written on his chest? Hope it wasn't a
poker site! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I don't get it. The sponsors are Viagra and Budwesier and General Motors and other things of interest to 50 year old men. And yet the half-time show is Nelly and P Diddy and Junstin Timberlake and Kid Rock other things of interest to 14 year olds.

Right. Let's recap:

Janet Jackson comes out and does some serious cutting-edge stuff by "singing" a 15-yr old song whilst condemning "illiteracy," "bigotry," and other bad stuff.

Puff Ditty comes out and does, uh, whatever it is that he does. This guy's 15 minutes had turned into an eternity.

Kid Rock (ugh) comes out and yaps about "crackheads," "all his homeys in the methadone clinics," etc., but then changes the lyrics from "I can smell a pig from a mile away" to "I love livin in the USA." What? But, I, uh...WHAT??!

Then our soulful little boy Justin Timberlake comes out and does his best Clay Aiken meets R. Kelly bump and grind with 40-something Janet Jackson, all culminating in the coup designed to shake the world up: some haggard pop star's floppy breast hanging out.

Now, honestly, who is this designed to entertain? MTV clearly bused in a bunch of teeny boppers to wiggle, giggle and otherwise fall all over themselves worshipping these icons of ours. I suppose this is intended to be infectious.

Ok. Infectious is a fair characterization.

But isn't there an innoculation?

Two years ago U2 did the entire halftime show. I'd much prefer that a single band or singer (even one I don't care for) put on the show. At least they might sing an entire song. They have done this type of show (with several singers singing a medley of each others songs) several times before, and it is always crappy.

I thought the tradition was to have a big pile of bull-sh*t as the superbowl halftime, as has been the case in every year I can remember anything about the superbowl half time show. This year didn't seem much different to me. Halftime has little real use except for a beer run or a trip to the taco stand.

I'm sick of seeing all this rap and r&b crap all over the tv. Kid Rock was okay but he still isn't real rock. Why not show something decent like some Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen..etc.. Get the crowd pumped up.
