When I first read this post, I as going to advocate betting the turn here, but now that I think about it, I like the way you played this hand. Not too many free cards hurt you (if he's got a high club he's coming to the river anyway), and checking when the Ace comes induces him to bluff at you on the river. Furthermore, the only conceivable hand he could be holding which you have beat, that he would not fold, is AJ. If he had AQ, KQ, or QQ, you dodged a c/r on the turn. Nicely played.

Your line guaranteed a showdown for one bet, and there are some hands that beat you. If you raise the river, I don't think your opponent could threebet without a full house, so you might win two bets, and not risk having to pay three. If your opponent has any values, I expect that they would call the river bet.

I'm not sure about this, kinda thinking aloud in a post, what do you think?
