View Full Version : Need a comp favor in LV

I need to ask a favor of one or two of you who live in LV. My wife is a huge fan of Clay Aiken, and he's got a concert tour coming through town with Kelly Clarkson. The event is at the UNLV Mack Auditorium on March 27. She has heard through the grapevine that many of the casinos in town bought up a lot of the good tickets, which they will comp to their players. If you are such a person, or otherwise have enough juice to get 3 really good seats to this event (i.e., floor seats near the front), I will be obliged. And, of course, I will reimburse you for the tickets.

If you think you can do this, please email me at raymers@att.net. Do NOT commit yourself to buying or getting these tickets without talking to me first, please, unless you don't mind taking a small risk. I do know this event is selling/sold out, and tickets are being sold on eBay at well over face value. My wife has decent tickets already, but would like to get better seats.

Also, can somebody book a room for her and her friends at the Bellagio at the poker rate? They need a room for the 26th and 27th, checking out the 28th. We will pay you, of course, but would rather pay you the poker rate than pay full price to the Bellagio. We can simply arrange for her to meet you at the poker room and pick up the keys the afternoon of the 26th, or some such. I don't know the mechanics of poker rate rooms there, so please educate me if I'm asking for something in a stupid manner.

Thanks, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

Greg -

I can't help you with the tickets, but I can with the Bellagio. Just call the poker room there and make the reservation directly with them. When you get there, go to the poker room and pick up a card that they log your play with. I can't remember exactly, but they want you to play about 4-6 hours a day. If you do that you can get the poker rate. After you've done that once and played the requisite amount they automatically give you the rate and don't check on your play. The poker rate is ~199 weekends and ~139 weeknights.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. But, seriously are you coming to Vegas with your wife that weekend Greg? If so, that's also the weekend I'll be in town, not that you probably care, but I'd love to run into you somewhere. I've always respected your advice and posts that you've made, particularly in the tourney forum.

Thanks for the advice. But, I won't be there, just Cheryl and a couple of friends, none of whom play poker. I'm hoping for one of the LV regulars who play in the B anyway to book a room under their name to get the poker rate, then hand over the keys to my wife. She'll bring enough money to pay them back in cash for the cost of the room. If it weren't for the fact that this benefactor needs to check in and out for her, it wouldn't be much of a favor to ask. As it is, this person will need to be around the B at the right times on the check-in and check-out days, so they can hand off the room keys and the money.

Thanks. Really.

However, it has actually worked out to my advantage in certain ways. Since my wife has become obsessed with Clay, she now better understands my obsession with poker, and is much more understanding of the time I spend on it.

Did you ever watch Vegas Vacation? Think Wayne Newton.
Maybe you dont' want your wife going on this little vacation.

....and you have no problem with the fact that she obsesses over another guy 16 hours a day?

besides Sigfried (the tiger guy) who better for her to obsess over than Clay Aiken. not too much to worry about there.

Hey.

You could try selling your worse seating tickets on ebay then buying the better seating tickets from there too. There usually isn't much difference in price between them unless you want first row middle seat. I did this with Paul McCartney tickets.
