I'm a college kid living in a dorm and interested in poker. Being a decent low limit player I am thrilled to have Celebrity Poker Showdown be so popular. There are a few casinos near where I live and I have gone to them occasinoally and done alright. Sometimes it takes me hours and hours to grind out $10 or $15 an hour at a really low limit table and other times, like alst night, I am set down at a table of people scared out of their mind-- made $90 in about 15 minutes. But I really don't like going to the poker rooms and I am bored out of my mind after my initial few minutes of figuring what types of people are there. My dorm room does not connect to PartyPoker so I looked at UB. After struggling to stay alive in the really low limits there I decided online was just too hard. This past Christmas my mom got me a USB datastick and an idea struck me. After reading on this site and many others about the abundance of fish on Party, I just installed it onto my datastick and took the datastick to the school library, with computers not firewalled. I opened up a $3-$6 table and just watched. Mother of God.... Needless to say I just deposited and am looking forward to my first online session at Party. I think I will be spending much more time in the library these days. Sorry for such a long post with really nothing of value-- I just am so excited I had to tell somebody! A whole new world opened up to me!!!

1) How is he wasting your tax dollars?

2) Why are your posts always one "sentence" long, containing no punctuation?

- How big is your bankroll? You need about $2000 for 3/6.

- If your bankroll is smaller, do some bonus whoring while playing at the lower limits until you build it up to $2000.

Hi college kid,

Don't let the trolls get ya down. I wish I would have discovered poker sooner in my college life. Enjoy it and have fun, but remember to stay within your bankroll (and don't forget to study occasionally).

If you end up getting flack from the old ladies at the library consider purchasing a dial-up account from a local provider in your area and connecting from your dorm room. If you have friends interested in learning/playing you could probably split the cost (just make sure the provider allows multiple connections).

Welcome to the forums,
J

"Any money that goes towards the libray is a waste "

oh. that explains it.

college kid - heed homer's advice and be sure not to be play beyond your bankroll.
despite the fact that you have done well in the B&M game and learned that the online game can be pretty silly sometimes, you WILL have losing sessions no matter how good you are.
the idiots WILL hit their miracle-rivers and you do need the necessary bankroll to withstand the potential downswings.

in the very least, be prepared to move down to 2/4 or 1/2 if you happen to take a hit to your funds.

other than that little lecture which you may or may not have needed...i wish you good luck and many wins against the fish.
