Ok.....I know I misplayed this....but curious to see exactly how......this is the first HH I have posted for review. I think I should have either limped or min raise or if I was going to bet big (like I did) show more strength and bet it all. Then I THINK I shouldn't have bet after the flop. We had made the money.....about 85-95 left...I think going into the hand I was like in 60th place.

With a stack of 6 big blinds, and antes in the pot too, I go into all-in or fold mode.

It is pretty crazy to bet 8k out of 12k chips before the flop. You might get more loose calls than you would like, and you are committed to the pot anyway. Hence the move all-in.

In fact I go into all-in or fold mode around the 10BB mark, especially if there are antes.

Others may have different thresholds, but the general idea is that any time a pot-size raise is approaching 50% of your stack, you are committing yourself, so you might as well increase the chance of winning uncontested by moving all-in.

Firstly, well done on making the money. I'm reasonably new to game with "pots" to learn so go easy on me! The only way I can see to possibly fold his KQ is to make him believe you have at least Ax and that's with an all-in preflop.

Not saying he would've (guess u may know that from the way he has played previous hands) but he then has to commit 2/3 of his stack feeling he's already in 2nd place (which he was) and that he needs to draw out on you to make the winning hand. Not an immediate call for him maybe. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

After flop you weren't getting away - u check he puts u all in (figuring u now for second best).

Just to pile on...if you are going to raise for more than about 1/3 of your stack, you are better off going all-in. The only exception to this would be if you had something like AA or KK and you wanted a call.

Oh, and you will get a lot more responses if you take the time to type out a description of the hand, rather than just copying and pasting the hand history...
