Does anyone know anything about the celebrity poker tournament in Houston this Saturday. Supposedly for $50 you can play against the likes of David Schwimmer and Paris Hilton.

It's this Saturday at 5:00pm at Drexler's Barbecue. Hosted by Phil Gordon. Sounds like mostly local celebrities; Clyde Drexler, Moses Malone, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell etc. In a radio interview Phil Gordon said Paris Hilton might be there. Also sounds like the $50 just gets you in the door, you don't actually get to play /images/graemlins/frown.gif.

Anyone know if this is the tournament that Bill Simmons "The Sports Guy" is playing in?

Fifty bucks to watch local celebrities play poker?! I hope all the money is going to a worthy cause.

Yes, I forgot to mention that it does go to charity.

I'm The Sports Guy's number one fan. I really am. I grew up in the Boston area, so I've got to think that I'm even a BIGGER fan than most of his fans around the country.

But this guy's poker acumen has "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" written all over it.

Then again, he should be able to handle Paris Hilton and Moses Malone.

Yeah, Sports guy is pretty great. I tried to get him to attend a Pub Quiz that I run in Brookline (back when he lived in Boston), and he said he'd try, but we never saw him. I'm not expecting him to do well, but at least he knows the rules to the game

The best case scenario as far as future Sports Guy column potential goes would be for Sports Guy to bust out Affleck only to be summarily dismissed himself by Yanni, that would be classic.

If anyone here isn't reading the Sports Guy's Blog from the Superbowl, I think you should spend some time catching up. It's amazing.

The blog is awesome, but the one thing you really need to read are those recruiting dairy links he posted in yesterday's entry. Those are off the charts
