Are there any cardrooms in denver or surrounding area.

Will be there on business and want to go have some fun in evening...

there are casinos that have poker in blackhawk, co. about 45-60 minutes from denver. there is a $5 max betting limit in colorado, so there is either a $2-5 spread limit game, or a $5/5 game, where it's 2 $5 blinds and $5 betting capped at 6 bets i think.

the bigger room is the lodge with 18 tables i think, and across the street at the mountain high casino is about 10 tables.

For what it's worth, I would recommend the Lodge over the Mountain High based on my experience in Blackhawk 2-3 months ago. For reasons unclear to me, the waiting list for the games at the Mountain High are intertwined. I asked how long the wait for the 2-5 spread was, and they said 2-3 hours. So I then asked how long the wait for the straight 5 was. The answer: you have to wait on the cheaper game's waiting list before we will put you on the list for the more expensive game. /images/graemlins/confused.gif So, I go across the street to the Lodge. The wait for the 2-5 spread: at least an hour. The wait for the 5-5: I was third on the list. /images/graemlins/smile.gif FYI,

not really sure but last couple times i was at the mountain high, htey didn't even ahve the $5/5 game going. it was all $2-5. some benefits of the mountain high. free vienna hot dogs and krispy kreme donuts (those from chicago know the value of the vienna hot dog). they will give you a $5 food comp for a few hours of play, which is more then enough to get a good sized burger and fries at their grill. they also have a lower rake on the weekends. and they also give you free starbucks coffee (the fancy ones too, nut just their brew).

dont' get me wrong, i was a long time loyalist to the lodge, but the mountain high is giving up so much and it's nice.

Bottom lien, poker in Colorado sucks. The 5 dollar limit stinks, and if you go upto Central City/Blackhawk to play, you are looking at an hour drive, waiting 2-3 hours to get into a game, then an hour plus drive home. All in all, its not worth it and I dont go anymore ont he weekends and only once in a great while during the week. They do usually have a large jackpot at the Lodge for the 5-5 game, so if you are a jackpot chaser thats about the only good thing. There is a certain establishment on Colfax Avenue that spreads a 10-20 game but you have to know someone to get in.--Big Al--

"There is

This statement has gotten many a local, let alone visitors, in trouble. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'm not sure of your definition of proximity, but there is Cripple Creek. Midnight Rose, seating normally immediately. $20,000 flop jackpot normally. Very good tournaments - Tuesday is $40, no rebuys. Wednesday is $20, no rebuys, Thursday is $60, no rebuys, and Sunday is $50, no rebuys. Very good stuff. We normally have a O8, no jackpot, on Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes 7-stud goes on Saturdays. The hold'em $5-$5 is a real hoot, seat belt tightening game. Normal buy-in is $300 but lots of chips to be had.

The Double Eagle also has two or three tables, mainly on the weekends but some weekdays also.
