View Full Version : Raked Games in Los Angeles ?!

I've been told that recent changes in the law may enable Los Angeles county cardrooms to change from a dead button collection to a rake if they wish. Do you think this would be a good move for a marginally successful LA cardroom? Would low limit players switch casinos to play in raked games rather than the dreaded dead button collection? Would you rather play in a 6-12 game with a $3 dead button collection or a 10% rake capped at $4 (with no additional "jackpot drop" as is common in other areas)?

I personally would rather play in a raked game, ASSUMING that the looser players would play it as well.

The house does not rake an average of $3/round on pots that I win because I do not win that many pots. In fact, I believe you would need to WIN greater than about one pot in ten in order for the $3 collection to benefit you. Thus, it favors the looser players and I assume that is the collection method they like best.

Very few players like the dead button collection IMO.
