I'm a pretty strong live money player, often putting 20+ hours per weekend playing in lower limit games (3/6,5/8 holdem, and 4/8 half/half). These games usually have lots of fish, drunks looking for places to gamble when the casino floor closes (2am) . Any way long story short I've gotten into a few tourneys for the upcomming month. One a superbowl satilite on the 1st(go pats), the other a month long freeroll series starting on the 6th. Both will be NL holdem, and I will be playing against some of the local pros, and acomplished tourney playes. I've play a seclect few smaller (5 table) tournements and done decent (best finsih 6th) but most of those have been against the same poor players.
Anyway I'm looking for advice on how to adjust my live money game play to tournement play against stronger oppents. Any information/considerations/experiance would be greatly apreciated.

Hard to tell you how to adjust your play when you don't write anything about it? Then again, reading that you're successful against drunks gives me the idea you're playing tight.

Now, if I read your post correctly you'll be playing against seasoned tournament players, whom you believe to be better than you are. Sklansky advocates advoiding close gambles in tournament situations when you're better than your opponents. Likewise it would probably makes sense to gamble A LOT, when you know you're up against better players. Maybe not "The System", but an approximation - try to get your stack in preflop when you believe you have the best hand, even with a slight edge, and don't be afraid to push in or come over the top on the flop with any decent draw.

Apart from that my best suggestion would be - if you havent done that yet - to take a few hours to read TPFAP!

Best,

yea I my play style is tight an uber agesive. I often find my self raiseing draws and makeing agressive moves in late position. Makeing lots of semi-bluff raises, especially against some of the better players I've faced to mix up my play (and more often than not against these tight player to take down the pot).
Thanx for the advice thinking aobut it takeing those gambles, my onlt take a slight alteration in my play style.
