I am a seriously math challenged person and need some very very basic help.
Odds to make a flush with 4 of a suit on the flop.
Same for open ended straight.
Improve 2 pair to a full house.
Improve one pair to trips.
Odds to hit a gutshot.
Final question, if there is 1000 chips in the pot and to call a bet of 100 I would be getting 10 to 1, right ?
Apolagies if this is in the wrong place but any help would be appreciated.

try searching the archives for stuff like "odds to make flush" etc...

as for the pot odds question, if the pot is 1000, and someone bets 100, you would actually be getting 11-1 on the call, the pot plus his bet

A simple way to get really close with out all of the fancy math is just count your outs and multiply by 4...say you have 8 outs....8 x 4 = 32.....you have @ a 32% chance of making your hand....but you have @ a 68% chance of not making the hand....this will get you very close without having to learn all of the math..........

just count your outs on th eflop and multiply by 4......

Odds to make a flush with 4 of a suit on the flop.

The easiest way to calculate this is to find the probability that you don't make the flush and subtract from 1.0 . There are 9 cards that make your flush, so the probability you don't hit a flush card on the turn or river are (38/47)*(37/46) = .65 ,so the probability that you do hit the flush is .35 or about 1.86:1 against.

Same for open ended straight
Now you have 8 cards that make your straight, so using above method your percentage of making the straight is 1 - (39/47)*(38/46) = 31% or about 2.18:1 against.

For your other examples, use same method noting that you have 4 outs for 2 pr going to FH, 2 outs for pair going to trips and 4 outs for gutshot.

flush 35%
OESD 31.5%
FULL HOUSE from 2 pair and Gut draw 16.5%
one pair to trips depends on when you are taking about

I think it is probably best to just memorize the main draw percentages. There is an excellent table on page 309 of hold em for advanced players written by a couple of guys named Sklansky and Malmuth. Perhaps you may have heard of them? Kidding. If you haven't read this book, don't play another hand until you do.

p.s. David and Mason, any chance in me getting cut in for giving such an awesome plug?
