I recall reading about PartyPoker advertising during the SuperBowl, or something along those lines. Is this true? How do you think it will affect the player base on Party?

They're sponsoring the Lingerie Bowl during halftime. I would imagine that there would be some advertising for that during the first half.

As for the affect, I'd imagine that it will cause many strong and knowledgable players to play at Party......so that they can clean up all the "hollywood home game Aces" that decide to give online poker a try.

i seriously doubt they will have an advertisement during the super-bowl considering the recent crack-down on online-gambling advertising.

you are most likely confusing this with their sponsorship of the Lingerie-Bowl.
a bunch of scantily-clad women running around and tackling each other during a pay-per view event to be run on a seperate station during half-time of the super-bowl.
initially, this silly event was to be sponsored by Dodge but they backed out (wisely).
somehow, the intelligent folks at PartyPoker thought it would be worth their while to sponsor this thing.
So....for your $30 you can order the pay-per-view event PartyPoker.com Linergie-Bowl!!

i guess it makes sense from a certain standpoint. i assume that most online players are male. and pseudo-porno and online-poker are a match made in heaven if you ask me.

"I would imagine that there would be some advertising for that during the first half."

cup, i cant possibly imagine why there would be advertising during the first half for an event that is taking place on another channel.

hey everyone, please don't confuse this with the actual Super-Bowl Halftime show (which this year features Nelly and KidRock among others....better than the combo of Aerosmith and Brittny Spears from a couple years back which was pretty damn frightening).

a lot of different tv stations do a special-show during halftime of the super-bowl (MTV used to do a special Beavis and Butthead Super-Bowl Special). the idea is to try to take advantage of the viewers who have absolutely no interest in seeing KidRock and Nelly on a big stage in the middle of a big field with a lot of fireworks.

this PartyPoker Lingerie-Bowl is a much smaller-time PayPerView event for $30 that very few people will watch (compartively speaking).
it's gotten significant publicity because it is so outlandishly silly.
i believe the actual Lingerie-Bowl event is taking place in Detroit. it is most certainly NOT taking place at the actual super-bowl venue (Houston).

Porn and poker go together very well, I just wish I had enough hands to "play" both.

Great - just what Party needs another 10,000 people playing.

I'd think well over 10,000 of the current regulars will burn through the life savings at some point. or maybe calling 3bets with Q7o is a good play.

The more fishies the merrier!

I think what Webster was referring to was the fact that Party has occassional server problems with their current player base. An large influx of new players probably wouldn't help, server reliability-wise.

Having said that, hopefully their inability to play g00t will make up for an occasional server snafu. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

According to an article in the Las Vegas Review Journal (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Number=487975), the DOJ has been warning newspapers and broadcasting outlets of the legal risks of accepting advertising for online poker sites.
