Rebuy and add on definations please

HI, I'm new to any tourney beside sit'n' go's, can some on one please explain rebuys and add-ons? Here is a description of the tournament i wish to enter.

Date: Wednesday February 4th
Time: 10:00am start with players checking in minimum
½ hr. before.
Entry: $100.00 with unlimited $50.00 rebuys in the first hour and a $100.00 add-on after the end of the first hour.
Limits: The Tournament is structured with complete limit and blind structure posted in the Poker Pit.
Field: The field is limited to 88 players, registration closes 24 hrs before the start of Tournament with no entries accepted after the close of registration.
Prize Pool: The Prize Pool varies with the amount of entrants and the amount of rebuys and addons. First prize is 45% of Prize Pool, full breakdown of Prize Pool is posted in the Poker Pit.
There will be a 10% hold back taken from every prize pool which will be matched by the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino and will be applied towards The Tournament of Champions 2004 Prize Pool.

That means that during the first hour, as long as you don't have more than your original buy-in, you can for 50$ buy a certain amount of extra chips.(the amount will be announced)
At the end of the hour, everybody can aditionnally buy some more chips for 100$ (sometimes more than the amount you got for your first buy-in).
The purpose of this, is to make the prize pool as big as possible.
