My favorite city these days is Barcelona. I'm quite fond of Florence as well. So, I'd go with one of those two.

Hell, Barcelona's my favorite city even without the poker.

Beautiful choices. You can check-raise Gaudi's ass and slow-play against Brunelleschi.

Las Caracoles, in the old section just off the Rambla, down the stairs and those delicious chickens on the rotisserie, and the loaf of bread in the shape of a snail, and the great paella . . .

Man does not live by cards alone.

Never went there, but spent a few evenings having tapas at Cerveceria Canarias in Plaza Real and also was partial to the Basque tapas at Txampelo on Passeig de Gracia.

MG,

(as far as I know) the rake in Amsterdam is very high. Furthermore you have to expect very high costs for accomondations.

Anyway, I love Amsterdam, and if itīs not only for poker purpose itīs definitly worth a trip. (Same thing goes for Paris, too, BTW)

Best regards

Darynīs right, there is no poker in Florence, actually no poker in Italy at all. Italians travel across the boarder (Austria, Slovenia) to play poker.

Anyway, one might consider travelling to the Toscana and play poker in the internet. This might be the perfect way of playing poker /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the information Martin. I only say its the best place to play poker, because of the coffee shops. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Assuming you want to play B&M for aliving and not online

CALIFORNIA<--------------Head West young man.....great action in LosAngeles, SanFran. San Diego Inland Desert areas..problem in Calif as a serious player is the cost of living is very high.If you can find a safe affordable place in LA close to the action and close to the fun.Venice Santa Monica are all close to fun and not to far from most rooms via freeway..

Other places that are a affordable and have good games:
Las Vegas,Tunica,Phoenix and Atlantic City.
I am due for a long road trip.I miss traveling around..its alot of fun!!

Mikey I lived in AC for 3 years 1994-97.In Ventnor actually.I am also from New Jersey..AC is a crappy town but games are good and you can find affordable living all around AC-Brigantine,Ventnor etc.The towm itself thu is still blighted and pretty depressing. But at leat in AC Philadelphia is close to do the culture thing if you need it.Also AC has the advantage of being on the ocean -and NJ has decent waves year round.

Tunica really is cheap but Memphis is the nearest city...I regrettably didnt do Memphis when I played in Tunica for a month twice years ago.Good blues and grub thu..Pretty limited in immediate cultural stuff to do.Cool if you like fishing and golfing thu.

Phoenix is a great alternative too.Phoenix is a great town.I lived there for 5 years. It's young ..has good music, good sports options , great weather and it's still much cheaopr than Cali.
Poker came to Phoenix after I left in 1988 to go back to school in NYC.

I lived in Vegas for one year-1991.Havent been back but once or twice-not up on Vegas currently..but it's still gotta be good. Its not as cheap as it used to be.Both Phoenix and Vegas are mind-boggling hot from June-Sept...and i like the heat /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have not played in northern calif. which i regret but south of Ventura I have played majority of rooms over 2 3 month stints.Los Angeles poker is absoluely mind-boggling in its volume .You have 3 huge rooms all within 25 minutes of each other..they all crush the TAJ usually for game selection and number of games...people gamble it up and play fast. It's also the place I think you or anyone else could become the best possible B&M player with its diverse games, tournies etc..even over Vegas.
I guess the same can be said for BayArea poker but I dont know it well.Bay area has always had alot good bigbet poker action but now LA is spreading small no-limit games too so ..head to LA and check out San Diego too!!

Of all the SoCal casinos I've played in, Ocean's Eleven Casino in Oceanside is by far my favorite. The rake is smaller than any other poker room I've played, the food was great, and the floormen and dealers were knowledgable and friendly. When our game got shorthanded because two people left to smoke, the floorman let us play for no rake until they returned!

Unfortunately, I live an hour and a half from Oceanside and only twenty minutes from Commmerce, so... I usually end up there.

Foxwoods.

Too bad it is located in the middle of the woods. But is surely the loosest games at any level.

Peace,

No poker in Florence, but there are some juicy home games right across the river in Muscle Shoals.
