I’ve been playing online for about a year now, and it’s become my main source of income since my day job went away in the fall. I’m putting in full time hours and taking the reload bonuses on the sites that I regularly play at. I was doing OK, but had a bad run in Nov. that reduced my bankroll and the limits that can comfortably play at. I’ve been slowly rebuilding, but it’s become clear that taking the bonus situations more seriously will make a significant increase in my EV while I’m coming back.

The sites that I’m currently playing at are:

Party (most of the time)
Stars (I really like the software even though the games are harder)
UB (usually during reload bonuses)
Paradise (once in a while)
Gaming Club (did the OIC thing)
Planet (well, actually that button is kinda dusty)

I tried the PokerRoom for a bonus and really hated it.

What I’m looking for now are places that I can get a bonus that is clearable in a reasonable amount of time, and/or get some kind of rake rebate at.

I know that a number of people on here are affiliates with one site or another and are involved with rebating some of the rake. With that amount of action that I put on an aquarium like Party, it is ridiculous for me to play places like that without some kind of deal. If you can offer me some kind of arrangement at Empire (I know that I’ll have to use a work-around to sign up) or other site that is well stocked with fish, please PM me with your best offer (you already know better than to spam the list /images/graemlins/cool.gif ) .

The other thing that I’m looking for is information on how clearable some of the bonuses are. I’ve looked at the stuff on bonuswhores.com and know how much some of the sites are offering, but since I’m not familiar with them I don’t know how long it will take to clear or if they have enough games and fish to make them worthwhile.

I know that there was a post recently on “where should I try next”, but there seemed to be some confusion over whether the question was “what place had good playable software” or “where can I get some good EV from play and bonuses.” My questions are specifically related to how worthwhile are some of the places that are offering signup bonuses; are they really a good deal or does it take forever to find a game with good EV to accumulate the points at?

I’d love to hear from folks about how long it normally takes them to clear the bonus at a particular site (say Pacific or True, et al. ), if there are enough games to make them worthwhile, and how loose they are. Obviously if some place doesn’t have very many games going, or only allows play at one table at a time, that makes it more difficult to clear and I would like to know about that going in.

BTW, thanks to those who brought up the suggestion of starting tables at UB during the recent bonus. I started two 2/4 tables last night and the bonus points accumulated at a way faster rate than normal, it really helped get through in a hurry. That is the kind of information that is very helpful right now. Also thanks to those who persisted in getting the bonus even though they were not new players. On my own, I probably wouldn’t have even tried to sign up for the bonus, but since I knew others here were getting it, I emailed a few times and got them to award it to me. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

One thing that I think keeps me from clearing in a hurry is that I am reluctant to play a lot of short handed tables. I did the Lucy Jones thing for a few days, but don’t feel totally confident in my short-handed limit game. I’m going through the stuff on the other forum, but if folks here have run across good shorthanded resources please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help. The forum is definitely been helping me get on track lately and I’m glad to be a part of it.

Good post - once I read it LOL - True Poker is 100 hands per $10 so it's 500 hands to get the 50.

Intercasino is 250 hands for $0 EVERY month.

if you don't mind the 30 day wait, you could try absolute for $100, but their website being down doesn't bode well for their chances of surviving another 30 days. i would be careful there until i see the site up and running again.

except for party skins, you've already hit all the bonuses that are easy to clear. you could always go for the whores' special: sign up at all four skins, getting a rake rebate at your last one and playing there regularly from then on.

Intercasino/Carribean Sands/Poker Plex are musts for the true BH in my opinion. The added value of the $80 casino bonus at Intercasino is HUGE. I have made money on it for four straight months. People here can help you with the minimal blackjack strategy that you'll need for that one, but it really is a great deal!

I asked a question about bonuses just a few days ago and got some good answers in this thread:

ARe you willing to fax any sort of ID, if it doesn't lead to any private information and some relatively slow cashouts and a bonus that is not very conducive to really tight play...the Golden Palace Poker rooms have a $100 deposit bonus that takes $400 deposit.

It took me about three medium long sessions of mostly two four with a couple times of playing two tables. However, I did play a looser style and played some hands that make a higher variance but get the bonus points cleared. There are also some times that pay double bonus points.

If you are willing to be patient, you can get another 10% 30% of your rake rebated.

You may want to try the other Party skins. It's been said that you have to sign up from another computer if you already have a party account.
