View Full Version : choice poker preferred membership

I just downloaded choice poker and was reading about their preferred membership where they are rebating 30 percent of the rake to their members.
Smells like yet another lookalike prop program destined for failure.

Im not writing this post to knock choice poker only to make a suggestion.

30% would be great if u had like 5000 players with plenty of games to chose from, but you dont and im assuming your offering this to draw players.
So why not offer 100percent to the first 500 players who sign up for your program ?
Ya ya i know you would be actually losing money because of the deposit/withdrawl fees.So its a bit of a gamble but after all, you do expect your players to risk their money.
Get the players and then worry about getting the money!
Just a suggestion!
Best wishes with your new site.

I like the place - a little lean on players at the moment but that makes it better for the Hi hand promos KKKQQ won it last hour.

I got 35% actually and 30% off the rake.

Twisty,

Thanks for your comments. Actually we have had a great response from our Charter Member program, and we've just gotten started. The program in essence is to create a core group of players who want the benefits of being basically an affiiate of themselves. We do not even require any hour requirements for play at this time, so the program is really nothing like props at all.

A vast majority of our charter members have not even started playing yet, as we just launched yesterday. Of course, it is to be expected that traffic will be low at first as in any new poker room, however our charter membership is designed to create long term loyalty as well as give us a core group whereby we can constantly access feedback to make our site better.

As we progress, we will have more elaborate promotions to attract larger groups of players, but the charter membership is not that type of promotion.

Best regards,

Jon Comer

100% back? come on now, you know that is ridiculous. 30% back on your rake is awesome. i am only getting 15% right now on empire play, and i was happy to get that! i really hope your site works out choice, because having 30% rake back for life at a site with a lot of players would be too good to pass up.

Does the rake back include the house fees for tournaments?

What is the highest limit offered right now, and what limits are planned to be offered?

Umdpoker,

Thanks again for your support. It will take a little time to have a large room and we know that. The charter membership is a foundation. The bells and whistles tournaments and promotions and events will come soon. One step at a time. We are receiving great feedback from this forum privately and publically. We appreciate it.

Frank,

We have tables up to 30/60 currently. We could go higher upon special request.

For those considering choice, here's my take so far:

I signed up and maxed out the depo bonus ($150), figuring I'd give them a shot. Obviously there's a lack of players at the moment, but all in all the site seems stable and the software is playable. They have four color deck, notes, etc. Also, they have live help and it took me about 10 seconds to get a representative when I needed help (never got the email validation email). The rep was friendly and took care of the problem quickly. I also got into the charter member program, they pay every two weeks for those interested.

It's too early to tell concerning how hard the depo bonus will be to clear, but based on my initial findings I think I'd prefer the 5x bonus in raked hands method. It will probably make a difference once I get to play some 2/4 (played 1/2 SH tonight and took some nasty beats), once I get some more hands logged I'll post some stats.

Anyways, I'd give it a thumbs up for the time being, the bonus might end up being more trouble than it's worth, but the 30% rake rebate will be a good deal if the site is successful.

Peace,
J

Hi,

You’ve mentioned that you’re looking for feedback – I’ll give you some, right here, right now, for free.

First, let me get your attention. I play online poker 30 to 40 hours per week and have done so since very near its’ beginning.

I don’t abuse players, I don’t open multiple accounts, I don’t abuse time-outs, I don’t chase bonuses, and to my knowledge I have never been “investigated” for any sort of unusual activity.

You don’t know me, so in the way of a little more background I’ll say that I started running a Craps game in the Boys Room in 9th grade (in the early 1960's) and have earned at least a part of my income from playing or operating some sort of gambling game until the present day, including 22 years in Las Vegas as both a player of all the beatable games and as a casino employee, including having been Shift Manager of a major Strip casino and Surveillance Supervisor of another.

I hope you find my qualifications significant enough to take my request seriously.

I find your offer of a rake rebate intriguing ... but ... I want to look at a game before I sign up, just like I have done at every other site on which I play. If I can’t look first, I’m not even going to consider opening an account. I doubt very much that I am the only one.

Please excuse the frequency of the “I”s in this post, but, well, the only feedback I can provide is what “I” want.

Thank you for your attention,
Terry

Terry,

Certainly we want to listen to and respect your comments. And we agree with everything you say. We have discussed the with programmers and it is a priority for us. Unfortunately, this is a configuration that is going to take a little time to do compared to most minor adjustments.

For this reason, we set up the login process so that a player initially is only required to choose a user name and password (there is a place for email, although it is not required) to look at the tables. No other information is asked for until a real money account is created. We wanted to offer the easiest and most convienent way to log in an move around that we possibly can at this time.

I apologize for the inconvienence.

Best Regards,

Jon Comer

How do I get 30% of my rake back? Do I have to be an affiliate?

LondonBroil,

No affiliation is required. You can simply email us at charter@choicepoker.com and we will add you to our charter member list.

I will mirror Poker Odyssey. I THINK I was at his table (the only table so far) last night (I seem to know the other 9 players pretty well now LOL).

I was the one who blew my buy-in. /images/graemlins/blush.gif It was a combination of being a little tilted from my earlier session at Party and not being a very good SH player. Live and learn...

Anyone take a look at the rake on the sit-and-goes?

$200 +9
$100 +5
$50 +2
$30 +2
$20 +1

The rake at my limit ($10+1) is the same as Party, but the above seems very favorable. Looks like a sit-and-wait situation at the moment, though /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I took you up on tour offer and deposited $450 but every time I try to join a table I get A popup saying I need to validate my E-mail.

When I do this I get another popup asking for a validation code.

I never recieved a validation code.

I hope this is a growing pain.

Thanks Robert

You want feedback I'll give you feedback.

At a shorthanded table you need too know how many players are active.

I was getting ready to sit down at a4 player game. But it turned out too be heads up.

You need an icon for setting out.

Try this link. Choice Link (http://www.choicepoker.com/index.php?id=6)

I have also joined, although I have yet to sit at a table. I plan to do it this week. I did take a look and my first thought was that the cards (graphics) were a little hard on the eyes, but I'll provide my further comments once I sit for a while.

Note, there are a couple of tourneys for the newbies (which I guess will be everyone) that will crank up in February.

When I downloaded it Friday, I had no problems. When you click on the "download", I think a window will appear and you have to "save" the .exe file to your desktop first. Once it is completely downloaded, you'll have to open the .exe file from the desktop to finish loading.

(edit: ignore content - it is incorrect - but i can't delete it as there are answers below - my apologies)

jon comer

is dandy's link ( to www choicepoker com/index.php?id=6 ) an affiliate's link?

if it is (and i don't know that it is) would that be classed as spamming by you and would he be "fired"?

isn't your address just a plain www choicepoker com?

(edit: ah - i see it isn't - thanks to dave's post below - sorry for my unfounded suspicion)

That's pretty underhanded to post an affiliate link w/o letting people know what it is.

Shame on you.

I'm not affiliated with Choice at all other than opening an account last Friday.

"trinity" had asked for a link to the site, so I went to the site and cut/pasted the address.

I thought I was helping someone out who specifically requested the information.

They are very accomodating. If you complain about the lack of full 1/2 games, I am sure they will arrange for a full game just for you.
