if we are expected to only earn 1bb hr. where does it come from? i read a lot of fancy plays that make sence,marginal hands we can play,reads,tells,hand selection etc. all great advise but......... i am not sure there is a question here or is there?

if it is only one bbhr is there a definable place it comes from? hopefully i will be able to better state it later. one thing i see a lot is fancy plays, that i think might be neg ev, that are touted here. and if they are where the 1 bb comes from. more latter i guess.

a "solid player" playing low and low medium limit games can EXPECT to make about 1BB/Hr.

He defines a "solid player" as one who follows the recommendations from his book,"Seven Card Stud for Low and Medium Limit Players".

Note--West is speaking about "live" casino poker--NOT internet poker.

I think it comes from mistakes your opponents make minus your share of the rake. You should know why you make your big bet or else you should not be in the game. You should see some or all of the following: no early position standards, too many hands played, calling too many raises, overcalls on the flop, turn and river, never bluffs, bluffs too much, folds on the end too much, goes on tilt, overplays ect. If you don't know why you are making the big bet an hour, you probably are not.
